Abstract:
A web tensioner, a web slitter, a method of tensioning a web, and a method of slitting a web are provided. A corrugated edge nip is used in the tensioner, the slitter, and the methods of tensioning and slitting. The corrugated edge nip can provide a crossweb tension to a suspended web or film in a web line. The corrugated edge nip can be used in conjunction with, for example, a rotary shear slitter to improve slit edge quality.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a spreader roll (101) that can help spread webs laterally in a web processing operation, in particular to reduce or remove the presence of wrinkles or bagginess in the web. The spreader roll can be a reverse crown roll that is covered with a resilient material (160) to assist spreading the web to remove wrinkles. The surface curvature of the spreader roll (101) can be formed using layers of material such as a tape, to easily and readily approximate the shape of a reverse crown roll.
Abstract:
A coextruded ribbon. The coextruded ribbon includes a first layer and an opposed second layer. The first layer includes a first side optionally having an adhesive thereon. The first layer further includes an opposed second side having a plurality of protrusions extending therefrom. The second layer includes a repellant material contacting the plurality of protrusions.
Abstract:
The provided containers (100, 200) and methods provide for gravitational alignment of a plurality of stacked articles (120), in which at least two edges (140, 142) of each article align along inner walls (108, 114, 208, 214) of a respective container. The aligning walls of the container are provided with low-friction surfaces to facilitate sliding and alignment of the articles. By aligning the stack of articles along two edges, the articles can be registered relative to not only each other but the container itself, thereby facilitating loading, unloading, and conversion of articles in the stack. Optionally, a compressible layer (147) opposing one or both of the aligning walls conforms and distributes stress along the non-aligning edges, thereby preserving registration of the articles relative to each other when the container is transported.

Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a looped pile static reduction blanket or cloth, an apparatus including the looped pile static reduction blanket, and a technique to neutralize static and static patterns from a polymeric film surface during processing, to enable higher speeds and fewer defects during web transport and subsequent processing of wound film rolls, an apparatus including the looped pile static reduction cloth, and a technique to neutralize static from a polymeric shaped part during processing, to enable fewer defects. The looped pile static reduction blanket includes a static reduction engagement fabric that is resilient and can facilitate discharge of static from a web to ground before, during, and after contact with a charged web.
Abstract:
The disclosure generally relates to a looped pile film roll core used for winding a polymeric film, a method of winding film on the looped pile film roll core, and a roll of film that includes the looped pile film roll core. The disclosure describes an article and a process to reduce the core impressions created by the starting end of a web on the adjacent web layers next to the core. In one particular embodiment, the present disclosure can lead to a reduction in the amount and severity of such core impressions on a wound polymeric film, by reducing the amount of stress in adjacent layers of wound web.
Abstract:
The disclosure generally relates to a film roll core used for winding a polymeric film around, an apparatus for winding the polymeric film on the film roll core, a process of winding the polymeric film on the film roll core, and a rolled film on the film roll core. The disclosure more particularly relates to an open gap film roll core that is capable of reducing defects in wound films.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a looped pile static reduction roller (100, 200, 300), an apparatus (400) including the looped pile static reduction roller, and a technique to neutralize static and static patterns from a polymeric film surface during processing, to enable higher speeds and fewer defects during web transport. The looped pile static reduction roller includes a static reduction engagement cover (160, 260, 360) that is resilient and can facilitate discharge of static from the web to ground before, during, and after contact with a charged web (320, 420).
