Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive an information element (IE) that includes: a higher layer parameter that indicates a plurality of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) thresholds; and another higher layer parameter that includes a plurality of resource block (RB) thresholds. The UE may determine a time density of phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) to be transmitted by the UE based at least partly on a comparison between a MCS and the plurality of MCS thresholds. The UE may determine a frequency density of the PT-RS based at least partly on a comparison between a scheduled bandwidth and the plurality of RB thresholds. The UE may encode the PT-RS for transmission in accordance with the determined time density and the determined frequency density.

One example embodiment employable at a UE can comprise processing circuitry configured to determine one or more thresholds for code block segmentation, wherein the one or more thresholds for code block segmentation comprise one or more of a payload threshold (Kseg) or a code rate threshold (Rseg); determine to perform code block segmentation based on the one or more thresholds and at least one of a current payload (K) of an information block or a current code rate (R) for the information block; segment the information block into a plurality of segments; and encode each segment of the plurality of segments via a polar encoder with a code size (N).

The HARQ-ACK codebook information may include information on a size of a HARQ-ACK aggregation window. The UE may decode physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions and encode corresponding HARQ-ACK feedback using the HARQ-ACK aggregation window based on the control signaling.

Abstract: Provided herein are method and apparatus for channel coding in the fifth Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) system. An embodiment provides an apparatus for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB), including circuitry, which is configured to: generate Downlink Control Information (DCI) payload for a NR-Physical Downlink Control Channel (NR-PDCCH); attach Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) to the DCI payload; mask the CRC with an Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) using a bitwise modulus 2 addition operation, wherein the number of bits for the RNTI is different from the number of bits for the CRC; and perform polar encoding for the DCI payload with the masked CRC.

Abstract: Technology for a transmitter operable to perform data transmissions using low density parity check (LDPC) codes is disclosed. The transmitter can determine soft buffer information (Nsoft) for a receiver. The transmitter can determine a soft buffer partition per HARQ process (NIR) for the UE. The transmitter can obtain, for a transport block, a number of code block segments (C). The transmitter can select a shift size value (z). The transmitter can determine an amount of soft buffer available for the code block segments (Ncb) based on NIR, C, and z. The transmitter can encode the code block segments based on an LDPC coding scheme to obtain encoded parity bits. The transmitter can select a subset of the encoded parity bits based on the determined amount of soft buffer associated with the code block segments.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to determine a transport block size (TBS) is disclosed. The UE can determine a number of assigned resource elements (REs) in one or more symbols for a transport block. The UE can determine a reference number of REs per physical resource block (PRB) in the transport block based on a reference number of REs for the transport block corresponding to each PRB and an assigned number of PRBs for the transport block. The UE can determine a TBS for the transport block based at least on the reference number of REs per PRB in the transport block. The UE can encode information in a selected transport block for transmission via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) to a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) in accordance with the TBS determined at the UE.

The first number of coded modulation symbols per layer may be determined as: a minimum of a first term and a second term if the CSI report includes the CSI part 2 transmission; and the second term if the CSI report does not include the CSI part 2 transmission.
