    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for communicating audio packets with ultra-low latency at high data rates from an audio source device to one or more audio output devices over a wireless personal area network (WPAN) connection, such as via a Bluetooth connection. Latency is reduced by using time-efficient audio coding and decoding, limited retransmissions, reduced time and frequency of acknowledgements, and by combining Bluetooth Classic (BTC) packets for downlink audio and downlink control with Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) packets for uplink control, uplink acknowledgements, and inter-device wireless communication. The number of retransmissions and packet concealments per frame cycle can be limited to an upper threshold number to satisfy a low latency requirement.

    Abstract: The exemplary embodiments relate to implementing techniques for transmission of audio data from both of a pair of audio output devices to a user equipment (UE). A first wireless audio output device establishes a communication link to a source device using a wireless communication protocol, receives source audio data from the source device, receives secondary audio data from a second wireless audio output device and combines primary audio data from the first wireless audio output device with the secondary audio data into a consolidated audio packet.     Abstract: An audio output device may join an existing session between a source device and another audio output device. The source device may transmit audio data associated with an audio session, using a first frequency band, to a first wireless audio output device and transmit connection information associated with the audio session to a second wireless audio output device over a second frequency band. The second frequency band differs from the first frequency band and the connection information allows the second wireless audio output device to join the audio session. After transmitting the connection information, the source device may transmit subsequent audio data associated with the audio session to the first wireless audio output device and the second wireless audio output device.

    Abstract: Communication between a source device and one or more pairs of accessory devices and between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices is scheduled using slot availability masks (SAMs). A primary accessory device provides to the source device information about requirements for communication between the primary accessory device and a secondary accessory device. The source device determines a SAM map that specifies a periodic cycle of time slots, with time slots marked as available or unavailable for transmission and/or reception. The SAM map satisfies requirements to avoid collisions between communication between the source device and the accessory devices and communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices. When multiple pairs of accessory devices establish connections with the source device, internal communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices are aligned to use at least a common overlapping set of time slots.

    Abstract: In order to reduce the power consumption after a transmitting electronic device in a wireless network has been detected, a receiving electronic device calculates transmit times of subsequent beacons from the transmitting electronic device based on a clock drift of the transmitting electronic device and the beacon period. Then, the receiving electronic device receives the subsequent beacon by opening scan windows that encompass the calculated transmit times. However, because the transmit times are more predictable after the transmitting electronic device has been detected (and the clock drift of the transmitting electronic device is known to the receiving electronic device), the receiving electronic device can reduce the width of the scan windows. In addition, the transmitting electronic device can further reduce the power consumption by increasing the beacon period.
