    Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE), operable to generate an enhanced buffer status report (eBSR) is disclosed. The UE can identify packets for uplink transmission. The UE can filter the packets for uplink transmission, to identify a number of small packets pending for transmission and a number of larger packets, relative to the small packets, that are pending for transmission in the uplink transmission. The UE can encode the eBSR for transmission to a next generation node B (gNB), wherein the eBSR includes information identifying the number of small packets pending for transmission. The UE can have a memory interface configured to send to a memory the number of small packets pending for transmission.

    Abstract: Technology for switching from a wireless local area network (WLAN) to a wireless wide area network (WWAN) is disclosed. A multi-radio access technology (multi-RAT) user equipment (UE) can receive WLAN-specific dedicated physical random access channel (PRACH) allocation information from an evolved node B (eNB) to enable the multi-RAT UE to perform an inter-RAT WLAN-to-WWAN handover. The multi-RAT UE can initiate the inter-RAT WLAN-to-WWAN handover at the multi-RAT UE by performing random access with the eNB using the WLAN-specific dedicated PRACH allocation information.

    Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry that includes one or more antennas and a transceiver. An integrated circuit may be coupled between the transceiver and the antenna and may include multiple tunable components such that tune the response of the antenna. The control signals may be generated by a tuning controller external to the integrated circuit. Shared control interface circuitry may be formed on the integrated circuit for interfacing between the tuning controller and each of the tunable components on the integrated circuit. The control interface circuitry may include a conductive path and decoupling circuitry that routes the control signals to corresponding control inputs on each of the tunable components. Sharing the control interface circuitry between each tunable component on the integrated circuit may minimize the space required on the integrated circuit for controlling the response of the antenna.

    Abstract: An electronic device may have first and second rear-facing displays, a front-facing display, a cover layer at a front side with a central region overlapping the front-facing display and a peripheral region, and wireless circuitry with a transceiver and antennas. The transceiver may convey audio data with left and right earbuds using a non-Bluetooth low-latency-audio communications protocol. The antenna(s) may be mounted at a bottom side of the device overlapping the peripheral region, at a rear side of the device, or may be mounted to a head strap. The antenna(s) may be tilted to optimize field(s) of view, to match polarization of the earbuds, and/or to allow multiple antennas to exhibit orthogonal polarizations. The antennas may include a single antenna that concurrently conveys packets of audio data to both earbuds or may include first and second antennas that concurrently convey audio data to the left and right earbuds.
