Abstract: Systems and methods provide for beam detection in a wireless communication system. An apparatus for a UE may be configured to identify a plurality of CSI-RS resources corresponding to different Tx beams configured for measurement by the UE, measure an L1-RSRP for the plurality of CSI-RS resources, determine a selected Tx beam of the different Tx beams based on measured L1-RSRP values for the plurality of CSI-RS resources, and determine a measurement accuracy of a first L1-RSRP value corresponding to the selected Tx beam based on successful beam detection probability.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may be configured for carrier aggregation (CA) in which a plurality of component carriers (CCs) are aggregated. The UE may determine a mapping of the CCs to a plurality of antenna panels for downlink reception, wherein a subset of the CCs are mapped to each antenna panel. The UE may transmit, to the gNB, radio resource control (RRC) signaling that indicates information related to the mapping. The gNB may, based at least partly on the mapping, determine, for each CC: a first scheduled time period for transmit beam refinement, and a second scheduled time period for receive beam refinement at the UE.

Abstract: Techniques for observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) positioning based on heterogeneous reference signals (RSs) are discussed. One example apparatus configured to be employed within a user equipment (UE) comprises receiver circuitry, a processor, and transmitter circuitry. The receiver circuitry can receive, from each of a plurality of evolved Node Bs (eNBs), one or more RSs of each of a plurality of distinct types of RSs. The processor can determine, for each of the eNBs, a time of arrival (TOA) of the one or more RSs of each of the plurality of distinct types of RSs; and compute, for each of the eNBs, a reference signal time difference (RSTD) based at least in part on the TOAs of the one or more RSs of each of the plurality of distinct types of RSs. The transmitter circuitry can transmit the RSTD computed for each of the eNBs.

In response, the electronic device may perform measurements using narrow beam patterns based at least in part on a network configuration, where the narrow beam patterns are narrower than a wide beam pattern of the electronic device. Furthermore, performing the measurements using the narrow beams pattern may include performing a beam-pattern search up to the network configuration. Then, the electronic device may perform an SCell activation procedure of an SCell with the radio node. Note that the SCell activation procedure may include reporting, to the radio node, CSI of a narrow beam pattern of the SCell that is to be activated, where the narrow beam pattern is narrower than the wide beam pattern of the electronic device, and the narrow beam pattern is based at least in part on the measurements.

At least one of the one or more measurements may comprise a channel occupancy measurement. Performing cell re-selection in NR-U idle mode further comprises camping on the best cell and periodically searching for cells that are determined to be better than the best cell based on the one or more measurements.
