    摘要: An apparatus (1001), system (1000) and method (800-900) are provided for improving the de-encapsulation of sections from Multi Protocol Encapsulation (MPE) (151) and Multi Protocol Encapsulation-Forward Error Correction (MPE-FEC) (152) Sections in a DVB-H transport stream. DVB-H is a standard for broadcasting services to hand-helds. Its difference from DVB-T, C, and S that is relevant for this invention is the presence of an additional layer of Forward Error Correction (FEC). Instead of restoring only correctly received sections (151) (152) the present invention also restores fragments of sections (151) (152) by using both Transport Stream packet headers (301. i.1) and section headers (151.1). As a result, entire sections (800-900) may not be erased (which can amount to up to 4080 bytes) whenever one or more fragments are received incorrectly, but only the incorrectly received fragments (which can be each up to 184 bytes) are erased. This leads to a more efficient use of the additional layer of Forward Error Correction (FEC) information.

    摘要: A method of decoding video data (ENC(VI)) in a video decoder (50) for regenerating sequence of images (VO) is described. The method involves arranging for the decoder (50) to include processing means (70) coupled to data memory (60). Moreover, the method involves: (a) receiving and then storing the video data (ENC(VI)) including anchor picture data; (b) processing the video data to generate luminance and chrominance block data; (c) processing the luminance and chrominance data to generate corresponding macroblock data (130); and (d) applying motion compensation to generate from the macroblock data (130) and one or more anchor pictures the sequence of decoded images (VO). The method applies the compensation such that the motion vectors derived from the macroblocks (130) used for reconstructing the sequence of images (VO) are analyzed and macroblocks accordingly sorted to provide for more efficient transfer of one or more video areas from one or more anchor pictures between the memory (60) and the processing means (70).

    摘要: The invention relates to manipulation of sub-pictures (303) in a picture such as a mosaic screen (301). An apparatus comprises a sub-picture generator (105) connected to a mosaic screen generator (107), which generates the mosaic screen (301) from the sub-pictures. The mosaic screen (301) is by a video compressor (111) divided into uncompressed picture blocks such that each block only comprise video data from one sub-picture. The picture blocks are compressed using a block compression scheme such as MPEG-2. The apparatus further comprises a video manipulation processor (113), which manipulates the sub-pictures by manipulating the association between control data in the video signal and the compressed picture blocks. The video data of the compressed picture blocks are not affected whereby de-compression and new compression is avoided.
