摘要: Optical pressure sensing apparatus comprises an optical fibre interferometer arranged to sense the movement of a pressure responsive element and produce an interference signal at its output which can be monitored and processed to measure changes in the pressure applied to the pressure responsive element. The interferometer comprises a signal arm coupled to the pressure responsive element and a fixed reference arm. A light source supplies light to the input of the interferometer via an optical fibre and monitoring and processing electronics connected to the output determine the optical phase shift between the light beams propagated in the signal and reference arms and produce a pressure reading.

摘要: A polarmetric fiber sensor comprises a lead fiber (1) and a shorter length of sensing fiber (2). Both fibers comprise higly birefringent optical fiber having orthogonal eigen modes and are spliced together with their eigen modes mutually rotated by 45.degree.. The sensing fiber (2) has a reflective distal end (6). Linearly polarized light from a laser source (3) is launched into one mode of the lead fiber (1) and light reflected from the distal end of the sensing fiber is recovered from the other mode of the lead fiber via a beam splitter (7) and photodiode (8). The resulting electrical signal produced by the photodiode (8) corresponds to the modal birefringence of the sensing fiber (2) and changes in this birefringence are monitored by processing means (9) to detect changes in a physical parameter sensed by the sensing fiber.

摘要: A wheel clamp attaches to a vehicle wheel for performing a wheel alignment on the vehicle. The wheel clamp has a body for supporting a target or measuring head, and three extendable arms slidably mounted to the body. Each arm has a gripping portion for gripping the tire's tread surface and a sidewall contact portion for contacting the tire sidewall such that the clamp body is substantially parallel to the vehicle wheel and the wheel clamp has no contact with the rim. A self-centering linkage has enmeshed gears and link arms respectively connecting the arms to the gears, such that when the gears are rotated, the arms simultaneously proportionally slide relative to the clamp body, so the gripping portions of the arms engage and grip the tire tread surface and tighten the clamp onto the tire, while the sidewall contact portions of the arms contact the tire sidewall.

The assembly comprises a first bracket for engaging the vehicle wheel; a second bracket for engaging the vehicle wheel; a handle rotatably mounted to the second bracket; and a rod having a threaded portion and an attachment portion near a first end of the rod. The first bracket is attachable to the attachment portion of the rod, and the handle is threaded to engage the threaded portion of the rod, such that when a user grasps and rotates the handle, a distance between the first and second brackets can be adjusted to rigidly attach the wheel clamp assembly to the vehicle wheel.

摘要: Inventory control systems for monitoring the removal and replacement of objects are described. An exemplary system includes at least one storage drawer, each storage drawer includes at least one storage location for storing objects, and configured to move in a first direction allowing increasing access to storage locations of the drawer, and a second direction allowing decreasing access to storage locations of the drawer. An image sensing device is provided to form at least one first image of the storage locations when a respective storage drawer moves in the second direction. The system includes a data processor configured to receive information representing images of the storage locations generated by the image sensing device, and determine an inventory condition of the objects stored in the respective storage drawer according to the at least one first image.

摘要: Systems for monitoring an inventory condition of objects based on captured images are described. An exemplary system includes at least one storage drawer, each storage drawer including a plurality of storage locations for storing objects, wherein each drawer is associated with an identifier with known color attributes; and an image sensing device configured to capture an image of one of the storage drawers along with the associated identifier. A data storage device of the system stores, for each storage drawer, information of the known color attributes of the associated identifier. A data processor of the system is configured to access information of the known color attributes of the identifier associated with the drawer corresponding to the captured image; determine color attributes of the identifier in the captured image; determine a correction factor based on the color attributes of the identifier in the captured image and the known color attributes of the identifier; and apply the correction factor to subsequent images captured by the image sensing device.

摘要: A method is provided for positioning a free-standing fixture relative to a vehicle, using a visual aligner system for imaging vehicle-mounted targets with reference image sensors and processing the resultant images. Embodiments include calculating locations of the vehicle-mounted targets, calculating a location of a reference point on the vehicle, and determining a longitudinal line along a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. A location of a center of the fixture and an axis of the fixture is then calculated based on an image of one of the targets obtained by a remote image sensor attached to the fixture. The fixture is positioned by adjusting the fixture relative to the vehicle to achieve a desired position or orientation of the fixture based on the performed comparison steps and angle calculations.

摘要: An alignment measurement system for a vehicle includes an alignment sensing system and a suspension relaxing system. The suspension relaxing system is configured to receive at least one wheel of the vehicle and is operable between a plurality of states. The alignment sensing system is operatively connected to the suspension relaxing system to select a state of the suspension relaxing system. In a first state, the suspension relaxing system maintains the wheel of the vehicle stationary when the wheel is received by the suspension relaxing system, and in a second state, the suspension relaxing system allows the wheel to turn and/or translate. Prior to performing a measurement on the alignment of the vehicle, the alignment sensing system directs the suspension relaxing system to be operated in the second state.
