    摘要: An interference measurement device configured to detect a phase from an interference beam between an object beam and a reference beam, includes: a laser beam source; a splitter configured to split an emitted beam from the laser beam source into the object beam and the reference beam; an object beam optical unit configured to make only the object beam incident on a measurement object; a combination unit configured to combine the object beam and the reference beam; a phase element configured to vary mutual relationship in phase between the object beam and the reference beam; and a detector configured to detect the interference beam between the object beam and the reference beam. A signal of a spatial phase variation of the measurement object is directly operated, based on at least two measurement results of an intensity signal with the detector.

    摘要: A differential polarization interferometer is provided. An interferometer performs direct measurement of phase shift of a light wave passed under an arbitrary angle through a sample composed of a transparent substrate holding a thin deposited test film, for metamaterial testing. An example apparatus has a laser source and a first polarizer, and two optically connected arms. A first arm creates orthogonally polarized components of a single output beam for a broadband non-polarizing beam splitter. A second arm has a controllable phase retarder to introduce a phase shift into one polarization component of the reflected single output beam, and a second polarizer to equalize and mix the polarization components of the reflected single output beam. This transforms the reflected single output beam into a beam resulting from interference of polarization components of the reflected single output beam. A photodetector transforms an intensity of the beam into an electric signal for output.

    摘要: Systems and methods are presented for modulating a beam of radiation, such that the modulated beam exhibits substantially null residual amplitude modulation (RAM). An electro-optical modulator is presented that includes a waveguide, a first region associated with the waveguide and a second region associated with the waveguide. The waveguide is designed to guide a beam of radiation. A first electric potential applied to the first region causes a first modulation to the beam of radiation while a second electric potential applied to the second region causes a second modulation to the beam of radiation. The first modulation combined with the second modulation provides substantially null residual amplitude modulation of the beam of radiation.

    摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for optical coherence tomography (OCT). For example, imaging can use optical phase modulators based on optical delay lines that, in conjunction with a swept-source laser, can be used to achieve heterodyne swept source optical coherence tomography (SSOCT). These techniques resolve the complex conjugate ambiguity in SSOCT, thereby doubling the usable imaging range. This increased imaging range has numerous important clinical applications in ophthalmology, cardiology and radiology, as well as applications in small animal and non-biological imaging. These methods are superior to prior disclosed methods requiring acousto-optic or electro-optic modulators with respect to complexity, efficiency, imaging speed and image quality.
