    摘要: To prevent inconsistency in images and support columns from collapsing when pressure is applied from outside in the case where liquid crystal is sealed in under negative pressure in order to prevent impact bubbles from being created in the liquid crystal display device in accordance with a liquid crystal dropping and sealing method.The distance between a TFT substrate 10 and a facing substrate 20 is set using first support columns 30, while second support columns 40 are located within contact holes 50 and do not make contact with the TFT substrate 10. When pressure is applied from outside, the second support columns 40 make contact with the side wall or the like of the contact holes 50 created in the TFT substrate 10, so that the repulsive force of the second support columns 40 prevents the distance between the TFT substrate 10 and the facing substrate 20 from becoming too small. As a result, inconsistency in images can be prevented, and the first support columns 30 can be prevented from collapsing when pressure is applied from outside.

    摘要: An image processing method generates a halftone-dot image by forming a halftone dot, which is represented by a set of one or plural output dots and corresponds to an intensity of an input image signal, while making a part of the dots constituting the halftone dot to be an actual non-output dot so as to reduce an amount of a coloring material of the halftone-dot portion. When the intensity of the image signal exceeds a predetermined value and is in a predetermined range, while maintaining contour dots, which are output dots contribute to formation of a contour of the halftone dot, to be the output dot, the image processing method makes a part of dots inside the contour dots to be the actual non-output dot.

    摘要: Conventional I-form crystals of 5-hydroxy-1-methylhydantoin contain, remaining therein in a considerable amount, the organic solvent used in a purification step. In contrast, in II-form crystals, the amount of the organic solvent remaining therein is smaller than the detection limit. Namely, the II-form crystals contain substantially no residual organic solvent. The novel II-form crystals of 5-hydroxy-1-methylhydantoin obtained through recrystallization from water not only contain substantially no residual organic solvent, but also have a high bulk density and are hence advantageous for pharmaceutical preparation. They further have properties advantageous for production, such as low adhesion. The crystals are significantly useful as a material for medicines required to have high safety, such as drugs for renal insufficiency.

    摘要: The variable-shape mirror is provided with a support base and a minor portion that is disposed to face the support base and that has on a side thereof facing away from the support base a minor surface which is irradiated with a light beam. There are also provided piezoelectric elements that are sandwiched between the support base and the mirror portion and that vary the shape of the mirror surface. The piezoelectric elements are bonded, through a thin layer of metal that is separately provided for bonding, to at least one of the support base and the mirror portion. A driving voltage to the piezoelectric elements is supplied through the thin layer of metal.
