Abstract: A method includes: rendering a field of view of a virtual environment for a first user of a head mounted display, rendering a view of the virtual environment outside the field of view of the first user at a lower resolution, outputting the rendered field of view for display to the first user, and recording the combined render as a video for subsequent viewing by a second user. A corresponding method includes requesting to download or stream the video from a remote source, receiving the download or stream of the video from the remote source, and outputting at least part of the stream or video for display to a second user wearing a head mounted display.

Abstract: A method and system are described wherein a terminal sends, to a server, a video request message that includes an identifier of a virtual reality (VR) video. The VR video comprises N sub-bitstreams. The terminal receives a video response message sent by the server. The video response message indicates multicast addresses respectively corresponding to the N sub-bitstreams, and the terminal determines a target sub-bitstream based on a current field of view of a user, and obtains the target sub-bitstream based on a multicast address corresponding to the target sub-bitstream. The multicast address is one of the multicast addresses, and the target sub-bitstream comprises at least one sub-bitstream of the N sub-bitstreams.

In one embodiment, an enhanced media presentation is provided. To provide the enhanced media presentation, one or more content items associated with subject matter associated with a segment of an enhanced media presentation are identified. Each content item may be associated with at least one uniform resource identifier. Then, a content object based at least in part on at least one content item is created. The content object is an abstract representation of the content item. The content object can be associated with the segment and provided for simultaneous displayed simultaneously with at least a portion of the segment.

Abstract: A system and method for providing bitrate control for delivering media content to a plurality of virtual display (VD) screens presented in a virtual reality (VR) environment effectuated by a VR device of a subscriber based on detecting a movement in a point of view with respect the VD screens' placement within the VR environment, wherein each VD screen is configured to receive a media content channel. Responsive to detecting the movement, angular distance of each of the VD screens relative to a reference axis is computed. Weights to each of the media content channels may be assigned or updated based on the angular distance of the corresponding VD screens relative to the reference axis. Bandwidth of a managed bandwidth pipe may be (re)allocated based on the relative weights of the media content channels for delivering the media content channels to the subscriber's VR environment responsive to selecting single bitrates for the media channels according to a channel bandwidth annealing mechanism.
