Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for generating a model of a subject's teeth. Described herein are intraoral scanning methods and apparatuses for generating a three-dimensional model of a subject's intraoral region (e.g., teeth) including both surface features and internal features. These methods and apparatuses may be used for identifying and evaluating lesions, caries and cracks in the teeth. Any of these methods and apparatuses may use minimum scattering coefficients and/or segmentation to form a volumetric model of the teeth.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to techniques for assisting users of intraoral scanners during intraoral scanning. In an embodiment, a method includes receiving intraoral scans of a dental site, generating a 3D surface of the dental site based on the intraoral scans, determining a surface quality score for a region of the 3D surface, and outputting a view of the 3D surface to a display, wherein the region of the 3D surface is shown with a visualization associated with the surface quality score.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and/or computer-readable media described herein provide technical solutions to aid in the color matching of dental restorations. These systems, methods and/or computer readable media may receive a three-dimensional (3D) model of a tooth, where the 3D model includes a plurality of voxels, set each voxel to a starting optical property, and form a 3D visible light model from the 3D model by iteratively adjusting the optical property of each voxel based on optical properties measured from a scan of the tooth, where the 3D visible light model provides information to generate a color matched dental restoration.
