Abstract:
The invention relates to the selective manufacture of 1,1-dichloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane by catalytic fluorination of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane with anhydrous hydrofluoric acid. The reaction is carried out in the liquid phase at a temperature of between 70.degree. and 170.degree. C. and under a pressure of between 10 and 80 bars absolute, in the presence of an antimony-containing catalyst.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane in the liquid phase by reacting hydrofluoric acid with 1,1,1-trichloroethane and/or 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane.The selectively is improved by using a perfluoroalkanesulphonic acid, in particular trifluoromethanesulphonic acid, as a catalyst.
Abstract:
The subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of 2-(perfluoroalkyl)ethanethiols R.sub.f CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 SH, R.sub.f denoting a straight-chain or branched perfluoroalkyl radical containing from 2 to 20 carbon atoms. The proceses comprises reacting a 2-(perfluoroalkyl)ethyl iodide with thiourea and then decomposing the isothiouronium salt formed with an alkaline base, and is characterized in that it is carried out in a non-alcoholic inert solvent.
Abstract:
The subject of the invention is the manufacture of 1,1,1-trifluoroethane by fluorination or 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane with anhydrous hydrofluoric acid. The reaction is carried out in the liquid phase and in the presence of a fluorination catalyst.
Abstract:
The invention relates to catalytic fluorination of perchloroethylene or of pentachloroethane in the gas phase by means of hydrofluoric acid.A mixed catalyst is employed, made up of nickel and chromium oxides, halides and/or oxyhalides deposited on a support consisting of aluminium fluoride or of a mixture of aluminium fluoride and alumina.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the manufacture of difluoromethane by catalytic gas-phase fluorination of methylene chloride. The operation is carried out in the presence of oxygen at a temperature of between 330 and 450.degree. C. and with a bulk or supported chromium catalyst.
Abstract:
In order to stabilize 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane containing traces of vinylidene chloride, at least one ethylenic hydrocarbon containing at least 4 carbon atoms is added thereto.
Abstract:
Novel 2,2-bis(2-perfluoroalkylethylthio)acetaldehydes having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.F and R'.sub.F are the same or different perfluoroalkyl groups, together with processes for producing the same and using the same to prepare surface active agents and products with hydrophobic and lipophobic properties.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed for the preparation of derivatives of perfluoroalkanecarboxylic acids and perfluoroalkanesulphinic acids by reacting a perfluoroalkylhalide having the general formula R.sub.F X, in which X represents an atom of chlorine, bromine, or iodine, and R.sub.F represents an unbranched or branched perfluorinated chain containing from 2 to 12 carbon atoms; with CO.sub.2 or SO.sub.2 in a solvent medium and in the presence of activated or unactivated zinc.
Abstract:
In order to remove the impurities (in particular 1-chloro-2,2-difluoroethylene) present in crude 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (F134a), a gaseous mixture of crude F134a and hydrofluoric acid is treated in the gas phase, in the presence of a fluorination catalyst, at a temperature of between 200 and 380° C. and under a pressure between atmospheric pressure and 2.5 MPa, the HF/F134a molar ratio being between 0.05 and 0.5.
