    摘要: A recording medium comprises pairs of groove tracks and land tracks provided side by side while being bent periodically, a plurality of land prepits previously formed on the land tracks and carrying information about the groove tracks, and a recording layer formed on at least the groove tracks and the land tracks. The land prepits have a radius of a curvature smaller than a radius of a curvature of sides of the groove tracks in land-prepit absent regions of the land prepits and are defined by curved surfaces continuously extending from the sides of the groove tracks. Those sides of the groove tracks which face the continuous curved surfaces of the land prepits are curved surfaces that stricture the groove tracks.

Further, a judging means (40) judges an uneven state of the recording pit formed on the recording medium, a signal generating means (3161) generates a gap error signal from a signal indicative of a return light amount in relation to the sub-beam or the main beam in accordance with the result, a control means (315) controls the moving means in accordance with a gap error signal so as to make the gap become a target value in response to the uneven state to be judged.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus uses a switching element to switch current flowing to an excitation coil, so that a heating layer in a fixing member produces heat that fixes an image to a transported sheet. Based on a change in temperature of the switching element over time, a prediction unit determines, at a predetermined first time point, a predicted temperature of the switching element at a second time point at which a tip of the sheet is scheduled to arrive at the fixing member. When the predicted temperature is at least a predetermined value, a control unit controls power supplied to the excitation coil by restricting switching of the switching element and lifting the restriction, so that by the second time point the detected temperature of the fixing member reaches a temperature necessary for fixing.

The abnormality detection system includes a high-frequency power source, a primary coil, a secondary coil and a controller. The high-frequency power source supplies power. The primary coil receives the power supplied from the high-frequency power source. The secondary coil is mounted to the object in noncontact with the primary coil for receiving power supplied from the primary coil. The controller is operable to detect the power received by the secondary coil and also to determine whether or not an abnormality is present in the object based on the detected power.
