摘要: An object of the present invention is to further increase the speed of tilt control while suppressing a useless tilt control operation. Values of focus bias voltages (reference bias values V1 to V6) at a plurality of radial positions P1 to P6 are obtained and stored using a reference disk with a high flatness precision. Prior to a recording and reproducing operation, the values of focus bias voltages (Fo bias values vs1 to vs6) at the radial positions P1 to P6 are obtained, and each of tilt amounts T1 to T6 at the respective radial positions is obtained from a differential value between the reference bias value and the Fo bias value at each radial position. During recording/reproduction, a radial position Pn placed immediately before the recording/reproducing position is detected. Then, tilt control is performed with a tilt amount Tn at the radial position Pn being set as the tilt amount at the recording/reproducing position.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a detection device which does not cause the false detection by receiving laser light from an oncoming car.The pulse laser light modulated with a modulation pattern set every target position is irradiated at the target position from a laser irradiation portion. DSP (Digital Signal Processor) decides that there is an obstacle at the target position only when the modulation pattern of the pulse laser light emitted from the laser emitting portion matches with the modulation pattern of the pulse laser light received by the laser receiving portion. It is suppressed that the detection device misdetects the conditions of the target position when receiving laser light from an oncoming car or the like because modulation pattern of laser light from own does not match with modulation pattern of laser light from the oncoming car or the like.

摘要: The present invention provides smooth and adequate recording/reproducing on a recording medium employing a biodegradable material as a substrate material. The present invention relates to storing on a recording medium, information, structure, or the like indicating that a substrate is formed of a biodegradable material. When the present invention is applied to CD, CD-R, and CD-RW, identification information indicating a substrate formed of a biodegradable material is included in a free area of TOC data in a lead-in area shown in FIG. 4. An optical disc apparatus reads the identification information to identify whether or not a disc loaded into the apparatus has a substrate of a biodegradable material. When the loaded disc has a substrate of a biodegradable material, the optical disc apparatus: measures a temperature inside a drive; stops a recording/reproducing operation on the disc when the temperature approaches a glass transition temperature of a substrate material; and ejects the disc to outside of the apparatus.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium includes a substrate; a metal film layer disposed on the substrate; a protective film disposed on the metal film layer; and a lubricant film disposed on a surface of the protective film. The protective film is composed of amorphous carbon containing fluorine and nitrogen in a surface region, and a region deeper than 0.5 nm deep from the surface of the protective film is substantially free from the fluorine and nitrogen. The fluorine and nitrogen may be each added in an amount of 5 to 20 at. %. The present invention simultaneously accomplishes a reduction in film thickness, an improvement in durability and corrosion resistance, and an improvement of the bonding strength of the surface of the protective film to the lubricating film.

摘要: An attachment lens is arranged in a stage subsequent to a scanning lens. After a laser beam is converged by the scanning lens, the laser beam is converted into a parallel beam by the attachment lens. When the scanning lens is displaced in a direction perpendicular to an optical axis of the laser beam, a traveling direction of the laser beam is bent by a predetermined angle immediately after the laser beam passes through the scanning lens. Then, the traveling direction of the laser beam is further bent by a predetermined angle in the same direction by the passage of the laser beam through the attachment lens. Accordingly, a final swing angle of the laser beam outgoing from an outgoing window is increased by a swing angle imparted by the attachment lens compared with the case where the attachment lens is not arranged. One of lens surfaces of the attachment lens is formed in a toroidal surface, which allows the laser beam to have a long outline in a vertical direction.

摘要: A novel method for yarn piecing in a fasciated yarn spinning unit, in which a broken end of a yarn and the fiber bundle to be pieced together are nipped and intermingled with each other between a soft nipping area between middle top and bottom aprons and thereafter are false-twisted by a vortex in an air nozzle. Motions of the associated parts are controlled as so to be able to achieve a suitable overlapping length of the yarn and the fiber bundle in the nipping area of the aprons.

摘要: A novel fiber drafting system is disclosed, according to which fibers of sliver supplied continuously are passed through a first pair of rotatable cooperating rollers while being pressed and compacted into a reduced section by and between a space formed by a groove and a projection formed respectively in and on the circumferential peripheries of the rollers of said first pair. The sliver thus compacted is then transferred to and held by and between a second pair of rollers rotated at a higher peripheral speed than the first pair of rollers, whereby the fibers of sliver are drafted successively between the two pairs of rollers without use of conventional aprons for guiding and supporting the fibers in the drafting zone.
