Abstract:
The present invention deals with a process for producing a multimodal ethylene polymer composition suitable for producing films by blow moulding and comprising the steps of (i) homopolymerising ethylene or copolymerising ethylene and an alpha-olefin comonomer in a first polymerisation step in the presence of a silica supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst to produce a first ethylene homo- or copolymer (PEI) having a density of from 940 to 980 kg/m3 and a melt flow rate MFR2 of from 2 to 1000 g/10 min, provided that if the first ethylene homo- or copolymer (PE1) is a copolymer, MFR2 thereof is in the range of 2 to 100 g/10 min; (ii) homopolymerising ethylene or copolymerising ethylene and an alpha-olefin comonomer in a second polymerisation step in the presence of the first ethylene homo- or copolymer to produce a first ethylene polymer mixture (PEM1) comprising the first ethylene homo- or copolymer and a second ethylene homo- or copolymer (PE2), said first ethylene polymer mixture having a density of from 940 to 980 kg/m3 and a melt flow rate MFR2 of from 10 to 1000 g/10 min; (iii) copolymerising ethylene and an alpha-olefin comonomer in a third polymerisation step in the presence of the first ethylene polymer mixture (PEM1) to produce a second ethylene polymer mixture (PEM2) comprising the first ethylene polymer mixture (PEM1) and a third ethylene copolymer (PE3), said second ethylene polymer mixture (PEM2) having a density of from 915 to 940 kg/m3 and a melt flow rate MFR5 of from 0.3 to 5 g/10 min, and wherein the second ethylene polymer mixture comprises from 10 to 35% by weight of the first ethylene homo- or copolymer, from 10 to 35% by weight of the second ethylene homo- or copolymer and from 45 to 70% by weight of the third ethylene copolymer.

The present invention deals with a multilayer structure comprising a first polyethylene layer as a first external layer. The first polyethylene layer is oriented in at least machine direction. The structure also comprises a second polyethylene layer as a second external layer. It further comprises a layer made of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol (EVOH) between the first external layer and the second external layer and a tie layer on each side EVOH layer. Furthermore, the tie layers comprise one or more copolymers of ethylene.

The present invention relates to a polymer composition suitable to be used in extrusion coated articles as a heat sealable layer. The polymer composition comprises 10 to 60 wt-% of low density polyethylene and 90 to 40 wt-% of a plastomer, wherein the low density polyethylene has melt flow rate (MFR2), measured according to ISO1133 (190 ° C., 2.16 kg load) of 2.5 to 10 kg/10 min, density 920 kg/m3 or less, and the plastomer is an ethylene copolymer with at least one α-olefin comonomer of 4 to 10 C-atoms, and has a density of 880 to 915 kg/m3. The invention relates also to the extrusion coated article and preparation thereof, the article comprising a substrate layer, at least one heat sealable layer and optionally at least one additional layer, wherein the at least one heat sealable layer is located on at least one surface of the extrusion coated article.
