    Abstract: Management of throughput, link rate, airtime, access, collision probability and other factors influencing performance of a wireless access point configured to wirelessly support two or more networks over the same radio channel and/or antenna is contemplated. The management may be suitable for use with access points operating according to a Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) based on Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) whereby each device desiring airtime executes a random binary backoff procedure or other suitable contention based process before attempting to access the channel.

    Abstract: Systems and methods include an access layer to perform handovers for a User Equipment (UE) using a mobility status of the UE. A source access node (e.g., a femto cell, small cell, or a macro cell) establishes a first network connection with the UE. Based on a mobility status of the UE, the source access node selects either a small cell access node or a macro cell access node as a target node for connecting to the UE with a handover (e.g., by establishing a second network connection with the UE). The UE may have a medium mobility status or a high mobility status and, in response, be connected to the macro cell access cell for continuous connectivity. Alternatively, the UE may have the low mobility status and, in response, a signal strength analysis of the access nodes may be performed to select the target node for the handover.

    Abstract: An access network includes a first local network node configured to serve one or more first client devices according to a first network protocol, a second local network node configured to serve one or more second client devices according to a second network protocol different than the first network protocol, and a hub in operable communication with the first and second local network nodes over respective transport media. The hub contains a centralized network node configured to generate a first digitized radio frequency (RF) stream to the first local network node and a second digitized RF stream to the second local network node. The first digitized RF stream corresponds to the first network protocol and the second digitized RF stream corresponds to the second network protocol.
