    Abstract: A full duplex communication network includes an optical transmitter end having a first coherent optics transceiver, an optical receiver end having a second coherent optics transceiver, and an optical transport medium operably coupling the first coherent optics transceiver to the second coherent optics transceiver. The first coherent optics transceiver is configured to simultaneously transmit a downstream optical signal and receive an upstream optical signal. The second coherent optics transceiver is configured to simultaneously receive the downstream optical signal from the first coherent optics transceiver and transmit the upstream optical signal first coherent optics transceiver. At least one of the downstream optical signal and the upstream optical signal includes at least one coherent optical carrier and at least one non-coherent optical carrier.

    Abstract: A resource allocation method is provided for a non-orthogonal multiple access distribution of access network users communicatively coupled to a single transport medium. The method includes steps of allocating a first frequency and time domain resource to a first user and a second frequency and time domain resource to a second user of the access network users, obtaining channel information regarding a particular communication channel of the access network for which resources are allocated, grouping the first user with the second user based on an overlap of the first frequency and time domain resource with the second frequency and time domain resource, and assigning the first user to a different power allocation resource than the second user within the frequency and time domain overlap.

    Abstract: A communication network includes an optical hub having a first coherent optics transceiver, a fiber node having a second coherent optics transceiver, an optical transport medium operably coupling the first coherent optics transceiver to the second coherent optics transceiver, a first optical circulator disposed at the optical hub, and a second optical circulator disposed at the fiber node. The first coherent optics transceiver is configured to (i) transmit a downstream optical signal at a first wavelength, and (ii) receive an upstream optical signal at the first wavelength. The second coherent optics transceiver is configured to (i) receive the downstream optical signal from the first coherent optics transceiver at the first wavelength, and (ii) transmit the upstream optical signal at the first wavelength. The first and second optical circulators are configured to separate the downstream optical signal from the upstream optical signal.

    Abstract: A server device is provided for authenticating client devices on a communication network. The server device includes a transceiver configured for operable communication with at least one client of the communication network, and a processor including a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the server device to receive an authentication request from a client device, generate a seed for a first key for the client device if the client device authenticates, transmit the seed for the first key to the client device, receive a hash of the first key from the client device, and validate the first key based on the hash of the first key.

    Abstract: A node for a quantum key distribution (QKD) network includes an optical input that receives an optical pulse from a hub of the QKD network and an optical splitter that splits the optical pulse into an optical timing pulse and a pre-qubit pulse. The node also includes a qubit encoder controllable to encode the pre-qubit pulse into a photonic qubit; a qubit trigger circuit that controls, based on the optical timing pulse, the qubit encoder while the pre-qubit pulse propagates through the qubit encoder; and an optical output that transmits the photonic qubit to the hub.
