Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to medical devices including volume filling leads and methods of use to treat cancerous tumors within a bodily tissue. In an embodiment, a lead for a cancer treatment system is described. The lead can include a lead body having a proximal end and a distal end, where the lead body can define a lumen. The lead can include an expandable lead head connected to the distal end of the lead body, where the lead head can be configured to be expanded between a first non-expanded position and a second expanded position in order to fill an intracorporeal void. The lead can include two or more electrodes disposed on an outer surface of the lead head and two or more electrical conductors configured to provide electrical communication between the two or more electrodes and the proximal end of the lead body. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for determining occurrences of myocardial infarctions are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of sensing for an occurrence of a myocardial infarction may include sensing a baseline accelerometer signal during a baseline, determining a baseline template based on one or more characteristics of the baseline accelerometer signal, and storing the baseline template in a memory. The method may further include sensing an accelerometer signal during a test period subsequent to the baseline, determining a test template based on one or more characteristics of the accelerometer signal during the test period, and comparing the baseline template with the test template, and based on the comparison, determining if a myocardial infarction occurred in the patient's heart. If it is determined that a myocardial infarction occurred in the patient's heart, the method may further include displaying an indication on a display that a myocardial infarction occurred.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for detecting or confirming fibrillation are discussed. In one example, a method for detecting a cardiac arrhythmia of a patients' heart comprises receiving, by a leadless cardiac pacemaker fixed in the patients' heart, an indication from a remote device that a cardiac arrhythmia is detected, monitoring by the leadless cardiac pacemaker a signal generated by a sensor that is located within the patients' heart, and based at least in part on the monitored signal, confirming whether a cardiac arrhythmia is occurring or not. In some embodiments, the method may further comprise, if a cardiac arrhythmia is confirmed, delivering a therapy to treat the cardiac arrhythmia.

Abstract: A leadless cardiac pacing system includes first and second leadless pacing seeds configured to deliver pacing therapy to a first and second location in a patient, respectively. The second seed includes an electrode, a therapy circuit configured to provide electrostimulation energy to the electrode, a communications component, and a power source. The second seed also includes a power manager configured to detect an end-of-life condition associated with the seed and, in response to detecting the end-of-life condition, to communicate a signal that causes the first seed to change from a first operational state to a second operational state, in which the first seed implements one or more operational parameters configured to adapt to a change in an output from the second seed resulting from the second seed entering the end-of-life condition.

Abstract: Devices or methods such as for stimulating excitable tissue or sensing physiologic response or other signals that can use chronic fixation mechanism are described. An implantable apparatus can comprise an electrostimulation electrode assembly that can include a primary fixation member and a secondary fixation member. The primary fixation member can be actively engaged or affixed to a target tissue of a patient, and the second fixation member can be biased against the target tissue, collapsed or compressed against the target tissue when the primary fixation member is affixed to the target tissue. The electrostimulation electrode assembly can also include at least one electrode such as to contact heart or other excitable tissue such as to deliver chronic electrostimulation or sensing physiologic responses.

Abstract: Various embodiments concern a lead comprising a cable conductor and a coil electrode having one or more filars, the one or more filars wound in a helical pattern. The lead can further include an inner fitting axially aligned with the coil electrode. The inner fitting can comprise external threading and a slot extending along the inner fitting. The slot can receive a portion of the cable conductor. The lead can include an outer tubular fitting having a lumen with internal threading. Each of the coil electrode and the inner fitting can be partially received within the lumen, both of the external threading and the one or more filars threadedly engaged with the internal threading. The cable conductor can be pinched in the slot to mechanically connect the cable conductor to the inner fitting. The pinching can be supported by the outer tubular fitting.
