An ionomer blend composition comprises a blend of a first ionomer and a second ionomer that is different from the first ionomer. The first ionomer is derived from a first precursor acid copolymer that has a melt flow rate of about 10 to about 4000 g/10 min and that comprises copolymerized units of an α-olefin and about 20 to about 30 wt % of copolymerized units of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. Moreover, the first precursor acid can be neutralized to a level of about 40% to about 90% to form a sodium ionomer that has a MFR of about 0.7 to about 25 g/10 min and a freeze enthalpy that is less than about 3.0 j/g or that is not detectable, when determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A variety of articles may comprise or be produced from the ionomer blend composition, for example by injection molding.

The invention relates to a thermoplastic composition comprising at least a copolymer of ethylene and an α,β-unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acid, from about 10 to 99.9% neutralized with Lithium, and at least from about 0.01 wt % to about 2 wt % of a migrating antistatic agent. The invention also relates to films, sheet and molded articles comprising the above composition. The composition, film, sheet or molded article of the invention show good antistatic properties and preferably have a surface resistivity equal or less than 10E11. The composition, film, sheet or molded article of the invention can in particular be used as a protective transparent coating or layer on abrasion and scratch-exposed objects.

Blends comprising an ethylene based polymer having a glass transition temperature lower than or equal to 20° C. and cycloolefin polymer are prepared. The ethylene based polymer preferably comprises at least 60 weight % of ethylene, relative to the weight of the polymer and polar monomers selected from the group of carboxylic acids, alkyl acrylates and vinyl acetates. It is preferably 0.01 to about 99.5% neutralized with metal ions selected from sodium, potassium, zinc, calcium, magnesium, lithium, aluminum, nickel, and chromium. The cycloolefin polymer is preferably an ethylene-norbornene copolymer. The invention also relates to the applications of such blends to improved impact resistant molded articles.

Disclosed is a shaped article comprising a composition comprising polyamide and ionomer wherein the ionomer comprises a mixture of Zn and alkali metal (M2) cations wherein the Zn/M2 equivalent ratio is from about 0.6 to about 6. The articles prepared from the compositions with mixed ion ionomers exhibit high stiffness, hardness and toughness, good scratch resistance, desirable low melt viscosity and high processability.
