Abstract: According to one implementation, a floating image display system includes a computing platform including a central processing unit (CPU), a graphics processing unit (GPU), and a system memory storing a software code. The system also includes one or more display screens controlled by the GPU, and a rotor coupled to the one or more display screens and controlled by the CPU. The CPU executes the software code to render a two-dimensional (2D) graphic on the one or more display screens using the GPU, and to spin the rotor and the one or more display screens about a vertical axis parallel to a display surface of the one or more display screens at a predetermined spin rate to generate a floating image of the 2D graphic. The floating image appears to be a three-dimensional (3D) floating image of the 2D graphic to a user viewing the floating image.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to augmenting a physical object with overlay images. An overlay image may be selected to augment the appearance of the physical object. The overlay image may be selected from a repository based on the movement of the physical object. The overlay image may be selected based on whether the physical object is projected. Responsive to determining that the physical object is projected, a first overlay image is selected. The selected first overlay image may be presented over views of the physical object. Responsive to determining the physical object is being held by a user, a second overlay image is selected. The selected second overlay image may be presented over views of the physical object. The appearance of the physical object in a client computing device may be augmented by the selected overlay image.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention disclosed herein provide techniques for extending on-screen gameplay via an augmented reality (AR) system. An extended AR application executing on an AR headset system receives, via a game controller, first data associated with a first object associated with a computer-generated game. The extended AR application renders an augmented reality object based on the first data associated with the first object. The extended AR application displays at least a first portion of the augmented reality object via an augmented reality headset system. Further, an image associated with the computer-generated game is simultaneously rendered on a display monitor.

Abstract: Systems and methods to facilitate game profile development based on virtual and real activities of users are described herein. A user may perform virtual and/or real activities in order to develop a game profile so that the user can play one or more games where the game profile may be implemented. Users may be motivated to perform the virtual and/or real activities to develop the game profiles and show off and/or test their developed game profiles. The one or more games where the game profile may be implemented may be specific to one or more geo-graphic locations.

Abstract: According to one implementation, an image generation system includes a base having a rotor and a motor for spinning the rotor about an axis of rotation, and a display secured to the rotor, wherein a center of mass of the display is situated off of the axis of rotation. Such an image generation system also includes a first counterweight coupled to the rotor and having a first location relative to the rotor, and a second counterweight coupled the to the rotor and having a second location relative to the rotor different than the first location. The first counterweight and the second counterweight are configured to stabilize the display while the display is spun by the motor and the rotor.

Abstract: According to one implementation, a stereoscopic image display system includes a computing platform having one or more hardware processor(s), a system memory storing a software code, an autostereoscopic display, and a user tracking unit controlled by the hardware processor(s). The hardware processor(s) execute the software code to utilize the user tracking unit to detect a left eye location and a right eye location of a user of the stereoscopic image display system, and to determine a left eye image and a right eye image corresponding to an output image of a content being played out by the stereoscopic image display system based on the respective left eye location and right eye location of the user. The hardware processor(s) further execute the software code to render the left eye image and the right eye image using the autostereoscopic display to generate a three-dimensional (3D) image of the output image.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a retention apparatus for a head-mounted device and a head-mounted apparatus including the retention apparatus and the head-mounted device. The retention apparatus includes left and right band portions arranged on respective sides of a user's head, which connect to the head-mounted device at one end, and include opposing free ends that are arrangeable toward a back side of the wearer's head. The retention apparatus includes left and right elastic straps and an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism is arrangeable at the back of the user's head and includes arms the telescope into and out of the adjustment mechanism. The elastic straps are attached to the left and right band portions at first ends and to respective arms of the adjustment mechanism at second ends. Adjustably moving the arms of the adjustment mechanism stretches or relaxes the elastic straps, adjusting tension of the retention apparatus.
