Abstract: An outdoor sign construction comprising an inverted U-shaped wire frame and a rectangular corrugated plastic face panel. The sign face panel is retained on a horizontal header section of the frame between vertical frame legs by a resilient extruded plastic channel assembled around the header and out the top edge of the panel. The panel can be allowed to swing on the frame header or can be fixed against such movement by optional brackets. A secondary header and auxiliary sign panel can be assembled on the frame.

Abstract: A miniaturized bulkhead with a barrier member having a thickness in the range of less than 0.05 inches thick for separating explosive charges on opposites sides. The miniaturized bulkhead is manufactured from an age hardened nickel-base alloy. First and second cavities are separated by the barrier member integral with the initiator body. The first cavity is filled with an explosive donor charge, and the second cavity is filled with an explosive acceptor charge. The composition of the age hardened nickelbase alloy includes nickel in the range of 50-55 percent by weight.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for inducing myocardial cell proliferation. It is based, at least in part, on the discovery that adult human myocardial cells may be induced to proliferate in culture by exposure to a platelet freeze/thaw extract. The present invention provides for a method for inducing myocardial cell proliferation in vitro, as well as for myocardial cell cultures produced by this method. In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides for human myocardial cell cultures. The myocardial cell cultures of the invention may be used to study the physiology of cardiac muscle. In addition, they may be used to identify pharmaceutical agents that may be useful in the treatment of heart disease or, alternatively, agents that are cardiotoxic. Furthermore, the cultures of the invention may be used to provide myocardial cells that may be transplanted or implanted in a patient that suffers from a cardiac disorder. In further embodiments, the present invention also provides for a method for inducing myocardial cell proliferation in vivo. Such methods may be used in the treatment of patients suffering from cardiac disorders, particularly those who have suffered damage or loss of cardiac muscle tissue.

Abstract: A circuit for utilizing the magnetizing current in the transformer of a power converter to reset the transformer's core and to provide a zero voltage switching condition on the converter's primary switch is disclosed. The transformer includes a primary winding and a secondary winding, the secondary winding being coupled to an output load and a primary switch connected in series between the primary winding and a voltage source. The closing of the primary switch causes energy to be stored in the transformer and the opening of the primary switch causes the energy to be released from the transformer. A transformer flux reversal circuit is used to reverse the direction of the magnetic flux built up in the transformer when the primary switch is opened. A secondary switch is coupled in series with the secondary winding of the transformer and is operated to prevent any loading effects of the load from disrupting the creation of the zero voltage switching condition.

Abstract: A circuit for the fast turn off of a field effect transistor (FET) for use in circuits such as a power converter circuit. The FET turn off circuitry includes a gate current sink transistor and a capacitor linked between the base of the gate current sink transistor and the drain of the FET. This capacitor increases the current into the base of the gate current sink transistor, and enables an increased magnitude of current to flow from the FET, thereby increasing the speed with which the FET turns off. A diode is preferably also connected between the base and the emitter of the gate current sink transistor to provide a return path to discharge the capacitor.

Abstract: A current-sensing rectifier for current rectification and measurement applications is described. The current-sensing rectifier comprises a current-sensing device for rectifying the current in a selected circuit branch and an active-sense comparison circuit to measure the sense current provided by the current-sensing device.
