摘要： A unidirectional valve, wherein the valve comprises a valve body including a frame, a valve opening through the frame, and a valve seat extending from the frame and at least partially surrounding the valve opening. The valve further includes a valve flap having a first portion attached to the frame and an adjacent second portion free to move from a first position where the second portion is in contact with at least a part of the valve seat to a second position where at least part of the second portion is spaced from the valve seat, wherein the valve flap has a nonuniform thickness. The thickness variations may occur between sides of the valve flap, and may also occur between the ends of the valve flap.

摘要： A filter support that includes two or more first support ribs on a first side of the filter support is disclosed. The first support ribs are generally aligned along a longitudinal axis. The filter support also includes two or more second support ribs on a second side of the filter support, where the filter support's second side is opposite from the first side. The second support ribs are also generally aligned along the longitudinal first axis. At least one of the first support ribs is laterally offset from each of the second support ribs along a transverse axis that is generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The filter support provides support to opposing sides of a filter bag or opposing individual filter elements. Also disclosed are a filter assembly including a filter and a filter support, along with a helmet-mounted powered air purifying respirator in which the filter assembly is located within the helmet crown.

摘要： A respirator 10 that includes a harness 12 and a mask body 14. The harness 12 has one or more straps 21 and a head cradle 16 that is joined to the one or more straps 21 and that includes first and second laterally-extending members 18, 20 and a latch 26. The latch 26 is able to secure the laterally-extending members 18, 20 in a spaced apart first open position to allow for placement on a person's head and is able to disengage so that the members 18, 20 can move to a second collapsed position to allow for off-the-face storage. The harness is beneficial in that it can be quickly removed from the wearer's head and can be conveniently disposed behind the wearer's neck when the wearer wants to temporarily displace the mask body from their face.

摘要： A compression element and a retention assembly using the compression element to retain an article on a flexible substrate are disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of making an assembly including an article retained on a substrate by a compression element. The retention assembly, compression element and method provide replacements for, e.g., mechanical staples. The retention assemblies, compression elements and methods are particularly useful for attaching elastic articles to the surfaces of flexible substrates without piercing the substrate. One example of attaching an elastic article to the surface of a flexible substrate is the attachment of an elastic strap to a respirator.
