    Abstract: Described herein are annular frames for prosthetic heart valves that include commissure portions that are radially offset and/or are radially flexible relative to the rest of the frame. The commissure portions can extend radially outwardly from the rest of the frame such that they are positioned at a greater radius than the adjacent struts of the frame. The commissure portions can be cantilevered from the frame, such that only one axial end of the commissure portion is attached to the rest of the frame, allowing the commissure portions to flex radially inwardly and outwardly relative to the rest of the frame. Lateral arms can also couple upper ends of the commissure portions to adjacent apices to pull them in at larger diameters. The radial position of the commissure portions relative to the rest of the frame can affect the positioning of the leaflets and the effectiveness of the valve.

    Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve has a frame and a valvular structure supported by the frame. The frame has cells distributed circumferentially around the frame and formed by struts. The struts includes a support arm, which has a fixed end portion extending from an axial end portion of the frame and a free end portion disposed toward an opposite axial end portion of the frame relative to the fixed end portion. The fixed end portion has a rotational position that is rotationally offset relate to that of the free end portion. When the frame is in a radially-compressed configuration, a second locking member of the struts is spaced apart from a first locking member of the free end portion of the support arm. When the frame is in the radially-expanded configuration, the second locking member engages the first locking member, thereby restricting the frame from moving from the radially-expanded configuration.

    Abstract: This disclosure is directed to prosthetic heart valves and actuation assemblies for prosthetic heart valves having actuators extending through actuation brackets secured to a prosthetic heart valve frame. In some examples, each actuator extends through and is pivotable relative to two actuation brackets secured to the inner surface of the prosthetic heart valve frame. In other examples, each actuator extends through and is pivotable relative to a vertically extending post of the frame. In this way, the actuators may move angularly relative to the longitudinal axis of the frame during the radial expansion and compression of the prosthetic heart valve. This may prevent bending and buckling of the actuators during the deployment of the prosthetic heart valve.

    Abstract: Releasable retaining mechanisms for an actuator assembly of a delivery apparatus for an expandable prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. As one example, an actuator assembly can include an outer sleeve comprising a tube portion and an extension that extends distally from the tube portion and includes a first aperture in its distal end, an actuation member extending through the tube portion of the outer sleeve, and a retaining element configured to extend through the first aperture and hold the outer sleeve against an end portion of a frame of a prosthetic device. The retaining element is biased into a first position that holds the outer sleeve in engagement with the frame and is configured to flex in response to a pulling force into a second position that enables the retaining element to be released from the first aperture to disengage the outer sleeve from the end portion of the frame.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes a frame having a first frame portion and a first window formed in the first frame portion. A threaded rod is coupled to the first frame portion and extends through the first window. Rotation of the threaded rod relative to the first frame portion radially expands or radially compresses the frame. A stopper is disposed within the first window and coupled to the threaded rod. The stopper is fixed in axial position relative to the threaded rod and axially movable within the first window by rotation of the threaded rod. The stopper can engage a first edge of the window to produce radial compression of the frame.

In one example, a frame for an implantable device can include a first end, a second end, a plurality of angled struts, and a plurality of vertical struts. One or more vertical struts of the plurality of vertical struts includes a fixed end portion connected to a vertical strut junction, a free end portion, and a plurality of apertures disposed between the fixed end portion and the free end portion and configured to increase the flexibility of the one or more vertical struts. In some examples, one or more vertical struts of the plurality of vertical struts comprises an axially compressible aperture configured to enable the axial compression of the strut.

    Abstract: Certain examples of the disclosure concern a prosthetic device. The prosthetic device can include a radially compressible and expandable frame and a screw actuator coupled to the frame and configured to be rotated to radially expand the frame from a radially compressed state to a radially expanded state. The frame can include two or more pairs of first markers and second markers. The pairs of first and second markers can be circumferentially spaced apart from each other. The first and second markers of each pair can be axially aligned and axially movable relative to one another as the frame radially expands. Positions of the first and second markers can be configured so that a difference in axial distances between respective pairs of the first markers and second markers can indicate a degree of evenness of the frame's radial expansion.
