摘要： A method of making .beta.-diketo functional silanes and siloxanes in which the acetoacetic ester moiety, i.e., .beta.-diketo CH.sub.3 COCH.sub.2 CO--, is attached to the oxygen or nitrogen atoms of C--OH or C--NH.sub.2 containing functional silanes or siloxanes, by reacting the organosilicon nucleophile with diketene, as illustrated below for the C--OH containing functional silane. ##STR1## The products can be formed into curable compositions, or used as additives in durable textile treatments, polyurethane foams, and hair care applications.

In various aspects, polyorganosiloxanes are polymerized into high viscosity silicone polymers then emulsified in a continuous process, wherein the process is carried out using a single apparatus. In some aspects, the provided apparatus is an extruder for polymerizing polyorganosiloxanes into high viscosity silicone polymers and then emulsifying such polymers.

摘要： An aqueous dispersion of cured silicone rubber particles includes as Components, (A) cured silicone rubber particles with an average particle size of 0.1-500 &mgr;m; (B) a surface active agent; (C) a thickening agent; (D) an antiseptic agent (i) consisting of phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin, methylparaben, and benzoic acid, or an antiseptic agent (ii) consisting of phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin, and sorbic acid; and (E) water. It has superior antiseptic properties and superior anti-mildew properties without impairing the overall stability of the aqueous dispersion.

The copolymers of this invention find utility in adhesives such as pressure sensitive adhesives, contact adhesives. laminating adhesives, and assembly adhesives, and release coatings.

摘要： A process for preparing emulsions of silicone gums is disclosed based on using an ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer as the emulsifier. The emulsions produced by the present process are useful as coatings additives for both water-based and oil-based coatings to obtain improved slip and anti-mar properties. The emulsions may also be used in the manufacture of tires as band ply lubricants. They may also be used in personal care applications.

摘要： A storage-stable composition adapted for imparting water-repellent properties to masonry materials comprises an aqueous emulsion which defines a continuous aqueous phase and a discontinuous organosilicon phase. The emulsion is formulated from components comprising: (A) a water-insoluble alkoxysilane of the average general formula R.sub.n --Si--R'.sub.(4-n) wherein n is a number from 1 to 2, R is a C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 monovalent hydrocarbon radical and R' is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy group; (B) a hydrogen-functional polysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule, at least five siloxy units per molecule and a kinematic viscosity between about 0.5.times.10.sup.-6 and 1,000.times.10.sup.-6 m.sup.2 /sec at 25.degree. C.; (C) an emulsifier; and (D) water. The discontinuous organosilicon phase comprises components (A) and (B) and the continuous aqueous phase comprising said water. Components (A) and (B) being present in the organosilicon phase in a weight ratio of (A):(B) such that said emulsion is physically and chemically stable after storage for six months at room temperature or for six weeks at 50.degree. C.
