A storage-stable composition adapted for imparting water-repellent properties to masonry materials comprises an aqueous emulsion which defines a continuous aqueous phase and a discontinuous organosilicon phase. The emulsion is formulated from components comprising: (A) a water-insoluble alkoxysilane of the average general formula R.sub.n --Si--R'.sub.(4-n) wherein n is a number from 1 to 2, R is a C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 monovalent hydrocarbon radical and R' is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy group; (B) a hydrogen-functional polysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule, at least five siloxy units per molecule and a kinematic viscosity between about 0.5.times.10.sup.-6 and 1,000.times.10.sup.-6 m.sup.2 /sec at 25.degree. C.; (C) an emulsifier; and (D) water. The discontinuous organosilicon phase comprises components (A) and (B) and the continuous aqueous phase comprising said water. Components (A) and (B) being present in the organosilicon phase in a weight ratio of (A):(B) such that said emulsion is physically and chemically stable after storage for six months at room temperature or for six weeks at 50.degree. C.

The solution is formed by combining (i) a dimer of at least two alkoxy functional silanes, (ii) an aqueous silicone emulsion of a polydiorganosiloxane, and (iii) water. The film is allowed to dry on the hard impermeable surface or the film can be wiped to dryness. The solution may also contain a water soluble hydrophilic solvent such as propylene glycol.

The composition consists essentially of a tetrafunctional or hexafunctional silicone polymer (I) which is modified with a liquid organohydrogenpolysiloxane (II) such that, when the functional groups of (I) are alkoxy radicals, the organohydrogenpolysiloxane contains at least 4 silicon hydride groups per molecule and when the functional groups of (I) are oxime groups, the organohydrogenpolysiloxane contains at least 5 silicon hydride groups per molecule.

There are disclosed solventless silicone coating compositions comprising a homogeneous mixture of (A) a liquid silicone resin reaction product prepared by hydrolyzing an equilibrated mixture of (i) a first silane and (ii) a first diorganopolysiloxane, (B) a second silane and (C) a second diorganopolysiloxane. The compositions find utility as protective coatings, particularly in corrosion resistant high temperature paint applications. Coatings having excellent humidity resistance are formed when the compositions of the present invention are further modified with a minor portion of an amine-functional polydimethylsiloxane.

A composition which provides excellent corrosion protection to metals, particularly ferrous metals which are to be exposed to moisture and/or salt, is disclosed. The composition comprises (I) a reaction product (or blend) of a resinous copolymeric siloxane solution with a liquid organohydrogenpolysiloxane, (II) a hydroxy-functional diorganopolysiloxane and (III) an organosilane. The composition may be cured on metal surfaces, either at room temperature or at elevated temperature, to provide a strongly adhering corrosion protective coating.
