    摘要: An axially shiftable slide valve member in a rotary, helical screw compressor carries a port which senses the pressure of the working fluid in the trapped volume just before uncovering of the closed thread to the discharge port and compares that pressure with the line pressure at the discharge port and shifts the slide valve member to balance the pressures and prevent overcompression or undercompression of the compressor. The screw compressor may be provided with two identical but oppositely oriented slide valve members on opposite sides of the intermeshed helical screws with one slide valve member controlling the capacity of the compressor and the other balancing the closed thread pressure at discharge with discharge line pressure. Compressor rotation may be reversed to eliminate the need for a reversing valve where the compressor operates in heat pump or reverse flow defrost refrigeration applications, with the two slide valves trading functions.

    摘要: An expansion/separation compressor system is presented for a multi-rotor compressor configuration. In accordance with the present invention the rotors are disposed in a shell having open and closed off portions for providing expansion, compression and separation. The closed off portions depend from or are attached to other suitable compressor structure including the induction or discharge plates. In an embodiment the expansion portion is comprised of a sliding valve. Separation is achieved when the flute and respective open shell portion expose the fluid to basic plenum pressure. The fluid is essentially removed by centrifugal force through the opening in the shell. The compressor is mounted to an evaporator and a control system is provided to regulate the temperature of water in the evaporator thereby controlling the rate of evaporation of liquid phase refrigerant in the evaporator. The liquid phase refrigerant is expanded between the rotors and respective shell portions to a desired volume. Further, the present invention presents foam generated from the liquid phase refrigerant to an opening in the shell at the induction side of the compressor for cooling, sealing and lubrication purposes. In accordance with the present invention the capacity of above described system can be varied without mechanical unloading.

    摘要: An air conditioning control system, for use with an air conditioning system having a variable-capacity compressor, varies the compressor loading in accordance with evaporator pressure at return air temperatures above an upper set point and fixes the compressor loading at 33% thereabouts when the return air temperature falls below the upper set point. If the temperature continues to fall, the compressor will be shut down at a lower set point at which the heating apparatus may be automatically and momentarily activated. The compressor will not again be activated until the temperature rises above the upper set point. The heating is deactivated as soon as the temperature rises above the lower set point.

    摘要: A rotary helical screw compressor for a refrigeration system employing a condensable refrigerant comprises intermeshed rotors mounted for rotation by way of anti-friction bearings, within a hermetic housing. A lubricating oil miscible in liquid refrigerant is supplied to the compressor in a mass ratio of between 0.25 and 12%, by weight of solution. Vaporized working fluid at discharge pressure and bearing oil mist is permitted to seep through the anti-friction bearings in closed loops, from the discharge side of the machine towards the suction side, for effective lubrication. Thus, the refrigeration system is oil pump free, oil sump free, and oil filter free. Liquid refrigerant oil solution may be bled from the condenser and injected into the compression chamber defined partially by the intermeshed rotors at a point in the compression process where the compression chamber is cut off from suction and discharge sides of the compressor, for cooling the rotors.

    摘要: A positive displacement compressor, such as a helical screw rotary compressor without capacity control element, is coupled in a refrigeration loop main line between the evaporator and an oil separator and upstream of the condensor. To unload the screw compressor at low evaporator load, any refrigerant discharging from the compressor is bypassed by a line connecting the suction and discharge sides of the screw compressor, and main line connection from the evaporator to the screw compressor is shut off such that the driven, unloaded screw compressor pulls oil from the separator through a restrictor and oil injection port and some refrigerant vapor which passes to the evaporator side through the screw compressor bypass line. As the evaporator pressure increases, the evaporator is connected through a restrictor within the main line to the screw compressor suction. As the evaporator load increases, normal operation returns, with the bypass line being closed and oil fed from the oil separator to the screw compressor injection port bypassing the restrictor for that oil line.
