    摘要: An RFID reader inventories a population of tags. The reader evaluates responses from tags by categorizing them in slots. As tags are inventoried, the number of slots based on a Q-parameter is reduced. The reader addresses the tags by communicating a Q1 value for the Q parameter, generates first contents from replies received from the tags, and computes a first merit statistic based on the first contents. Then, the reader repeats the process with a Q2 value. Upon computing the first and the second merit statistics, the reader determines a Q3 value for the Q parameter. If the Q3 value is substantially equal to the Q1 value, the reader continues to receive the second replies without communicating the Q3 value. If the Q3 value is different from the Q2 value, the reader uses the Q3 value for another round of iteration heuristically converging on an optimum Q value.

    摘要: Systems and methods to determine timebase and timing (i.e., time sync) of received signals in RFID systems. Multiple matched filters corresponding to multiple timebases are used to receive the preambles of signals received from RFID tags. The multiple matched filters define a range of expected timebases of the received signals. The matched filter with the maximum output signal peak is used to derive the timebase and timing of the received signal. Viterbi techniques can be used in determining the timebase and timing to incorporate a portion of the data signal in addition to the preamble. Reconfigurable matched filters can be used so that after a preliminary timebase is determined as described above, the matched filters can be reconfigured to define a new smaller range centered about the preliminary timebase. This allows the timebase to be determined with finer resolution when another preamble portion is received.

    摘要: Methods of and apparatuses for optimizing quantization noise cancellation in multi-phase sampled MASH ADCs are disclosed. A test signal is combined with quantization noise produced by a delta-sigma modulator. Two parallel adaptive filters (i.e. even and odd filters) are configured to receive respective even and odd samples of a digital output signal of a MASH ADC analog modulator. Adaptive coefficients for the even adaptive filter are derived from correlation results between the even samples of the test signal and associated even samples of the final digital output signal. Similarly, adaptive coefficients for the odd adaptive filter are derived from correlation results between the odd samples of the test signal and associated odd samples of the final digital output signal. Using the adaptive coefficients, the even and odd adaptive filters are able to independently compensate for analog variations in the two paths. Fixed, slowly varying, and clock rate variations may all be tracked out using the methods and apparatus of the present invention.

    摘要: An apparatus (21) and method for rapid transport of elastic bands (34) from a band loading station (22) to a band unloading station (23). The apparatus (21) includes a movable arm assembly (24) having a finger (26) thereon dimensioned to loosely receive an elastic band (34) therearound. A drive assembly (36) is coupled to move the arm assembly (24) from the loading (22) to the unloading station (23). The arm assembly (24) is further movable by the drive assembly (36) from a first orientation of the finger (26) to a second orientation of the finger (26) to enable gravity assisted mounting of the band (34) on the finger (26) at the loading station (22) and gravity assisted demounting of the band (34) at the unloading station (23). During the transport of the band (34) between the loading (22) and unloading stations (23), the finger (26) is reoriented along a path maintaining the band (34) on the finger (26) against dynamic forces acting on the band (34) during transport of the arm assembly (24). The apparatus (21) includes a gear train (43, 44, 53, 62) which simultaneously pivots the arm assembly (24) between the loading (22) and unloading station (23) while it rotates the arm (24) in a direction opposed to the pivoting to maintain the band (34) on the finger (26) during pivoting of the arm (24).
