Abstract:
STABLE AQUEOUS EMULSIONS COMPRISING GRAFTED TERPOLYMERS OF A POLYMERIC N-VINYL LACTAM, SUCH AS POLYVINYL PYRROLIDONE, WITH AN ARYLALKENE (E.G. STYRENE OR VINYL TOLUENE) AND A VINYL KETONE (E.G. METHYL VINYL KETONE).
Abstract:
There is disclosed a graft copolymer of a monomer mixture comprising diacetoneacrylamide and an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid graft polymerized on a polymeric N-vinyl lactam as substrate, a stable aqueous emulsion containing same and method of producing same.
Abstract:
1. An emulsion copolymerization process for producing an aqueous emulsion comprising copolymerization of approximately by weight 1-99 parts of an N-vinyl lactam and 99 to 1 parts of a vinyl ester having the formula WHEREIN R is C1 18 alkyl, in an aqueous medium having a total solids content by weight of about 40 to 60% and containing as seeding agent 5-20% polymeric N-vinyl lactam based on the amount of said N-vinyl lactam.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a process comprising treating knitted and woven textile materials with a polymeric emulsion, and a method of preparing the polymeric emulsion, said emulsion contains a polymeric product derived from a monomer mixture containing a vinyl ester, an ester of an Alpha -mono-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and Alpha -mono-olefinically unsaturated acid and a bifunctional monomer.
Abstract:
A STABLE EMULSION IS DISCLOSED OF A GRAFT TERPOLYMER OF AN N-VINYLLACTAM, VINYL ALCOHOL AND A VINYL ESTER WITH WATER AS THE EXTERNAL PHASE. AMONG THE VINYLLACTAMS IS NVINYL PYRROLIDONE. VINYL ESTERS INCLUDE VINYL ACETATE. THE VINYLLACTAM AND VINYL ALCOHOL COPOLYMER FORMS THE MAIN CHAIN OF THE TERPOLYMER.
Abstract:
STABLE AQUEOUS EMULSIONS COMPRISING A GRAFT COPOLYMER OF AN ALKYL ACRYLATE GRAFT COPOLYMERIZED ON A SUBSTRATE COPOLYMER OF MALEIC ANHYDRIDE WITH AN N-VINYL LACTAM ARE DISCLOSED. THESE COPOLYMERS ARE USEFUL AS CAST FILMS, PROTECTIVE COATINGS, IMPREGNANTS, AND SIZING AGENTS. THEY ARE REDISPERSIBLE IN WATER.
