摘要: A method of reducing gloss that results in a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) component that exhibits a reduced level of surface gloss; wherein, the PVC or other thermoplastic resin component comprises: a PVC resin; one or more process aids comprising at least one base polymer with one or more of the process aids being functionalized with about 0.5 wt. % to about 35 wt. % of a reactive epoxy, hydroxyl, or carboxylic acid functional group based on the total weight of the process aids; and optionally, at least one impact modifier. The PVC or other thermoplastic resin component exhibits a gloss reduction of at least 5 points measured at an angle of 85 degrees or less when compared to a similar PVC component in which the process aids are not functionalized.

摘要: The invention relates to pulverulent core/shell polymers for the preparation of a plastisol, which have surprisingly low water absorption. The invention further relates to the plastisol pastes which are prepared from these polymers and likewise have low water absorption and additionally possess good storage stability, good mechanical properties and good plasticizer compatibility. The core/shell polymers consist of latex particles having a primary particle size of at least 250 nm, the core consisting of methyl methacrylate, (meth)acrylic esters with C2 to C8 or aromatic alcohol radicals and optionally further monomers, and the shells(s) comprising, in addition to these components, also amides of (meth)acrylic acid and/or amine-substituted alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid.

摘要: Grafted triglycerides comprising an acrylated triglyceride grafted with a fatty acid residue containing 4 to 28 carbon atoms. Also described are methods for making a grafted triglyceride and for curing a material selected from vinyl esters and unsaturated polyesters and mixtures thereof and optionally a reactive diluent. The method includes the steps of mixing a grafted triglyceride of the present invention with a material selected from vinyl esters, unsaturated polyesters and mixtures thereof to form a mixture, and curing the mixture to form a cured resin system. A cured resin system comprising a cured product obtained by the foregoing method and composites containing the cured product and a filler or reinforcing material are also disclosed. This method also includes use of the grafted triglycerides to make toughened resin and composite systems with reduced hazardous air pollutants without significantly reducing the glass transition temperature and significantly increasing the viscosity.
