Abstract: A method for planning and adapting a recommended travel route to a route destination for a vehicle having various subsystems includes identifying the route destination and receiving vehicle health management (VHM)/state of health (SOH) information for each subsystem. The vehicle with a controller programmed to execute the method is also disclosed. The method includes calculating route characteristics of candidate travel routes to the destination using the VHM information and determining, from among the candidate travel routes, travel routes for which the characteristics meet a respective threshold requirement. Thereafter, the controller executes a control action by displaying a candidate route meeting the threshold requirements. An occupant is prompted to revise the mission requirements when no candidate route exists. A default route to a designated parking location or repair depot may be displayed when none of the candidate routes meet the threshold requirements.

Abstract: A method of diagnosing a lubrication system of an engine includes controlling an oil pump with a control signal. The control signal is a command having a value for a desired lubrication fluid pressure from the oil pump for a current operating state of the engine. A processing unit compares the value of the control signal for the current operating state of the engine to a threshold control value for the current operating state of the engine. When the processing unit determines that the value of the control signal for the current operating state of the engine deviates from the threshold control value for the current operating state of the engine, the processing unit analyzes the value of the control signal to identify a fault in the lubrication system.

Abstract: A system for determining horizontal clearance for a vehicle includes a ranging sensor configured to measure a distance between the vehicle and an object in an environment surrounding the vehicle. The system further may include a human-machine interface (HMI). The system further may include a controller in electrical communication with the ranging sensor and the HMI. The controller is programmed to determine an available clearance distance between a door of the vehicle and the object in the environment surrounding the vehicle using the ranging sensor. The controller is further programmed to compare the available clearance distance to one or more predetermined clearance distance thresholds. The controller is further programmed to provide information to an occupant of the vehicle using the HMI based at least in part on the available clearance distance and the one or more predetermined clearance distance thresholds.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting a fault in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), operably connected to a controller. The method includes receiving at a controller a stator voltages and currents for the PMSM, computing a negative sequence current and a negative sequence voltage for the PMSM; and determining if conditions are satisfied for monitoring for a fault of the PMSM. The method also includes ascertaining a change in the negative sequence current and a change in the negative sequence voltage for a selected time duration, calculating a ratio of the change in the negative sequence current and the negative sequence voltage corresponding to a negative sequence admittance for the PMSM, determining if the negative sequence admittance differs from a nominal value in excess of a threshold; and identifying the stator winding as faulted if the ratio exceeds the threshold.

Abstract: A method and system of diagnosing a lubrication system of an engine includes determining a lubrication system fault and controlling an engine in response to the fault. The method is operative to first determine a poor state of health for a lubrication system, then determine an oil degradation or lube system fault. In response to a lube system fault, engine operation is altered in order to reduce the negative effects of the lube system fault such as increasing minimum idle speed in response to reduced oil pressure.
