A second input receives an analysis parameter threshold value for the used lubricant at the end of a service interval and stores the analysis parameter threshold value in a memory of the processor. A determiner predicts a future analysis parameter value of the used lubricant at the end of the service interval based on the analysis parameter value, and the analysis parameter threshold value.

An engine oil change notification system is disclosed for an engine-driven electrical generator (e.g., welder/generator). The system may include an engine, an electrical generator, and an oil system configured to provide oil for lubrication of the engine. The system may further include a plurality of sensors coupled to the engine, the generator, and the oil system. The plurality of sensors may be configured to detect and measure operating parameters that are indicative of the quality of oil. The system may also include a processor configured to process the signals received from the plurality of sensors. Further, the processor may time stamp the signals and store data in a memory. The memory may include criteria data for determining the quality of the oil. Finally, the system may include a control panel that is coupled to the processor and configured to communicate the quality of the oil.

The method includes receiving sensed values indicative of lubricant pressure and lubricant temperature during the low idle condition. The method also includes determining a lubricant pressure threshold based on the sensed value indicative of lubricant temperature. The method further includes determining lubricant dilution based on the sensed value indicative of lubricant pressure and the determined lubricant pressure threshold during the low idle condition. In accordance with a determination that there is lubricant dilution, the method includes outputting an indication of the lubricant dilution.

A method and a device for operating an internal combustion engine having an intake manifold and a ventilation system may allow a reliable and fault-free diagnosis of a fault in the ventilation. The ventilation system may be a tank ventilation or a crankcase ventilation. The ventilation duct is conducted to the intake manifold of the internal combustion engine. At least one pressure differential may be determined between an intake-manifold pressure or an ambient pressure, on the one hand, and a pressure in the ventilation duct, on the other hand. A fault in the ventilation may be diagnosed as a function of the at least one pressure differential.
