Abstract: A composite tube may include a body having a longitudinal centerline axis and an end portion having a tapered section and an end rim. At least one of a radially outward edge and a radially inward edge of the end rim may be non-circular. The end rim may be circumferentially continuous, and the tapered section may diverge radially outward in a direction from the body to the end rim. A joint assembly may include a support wedge that at least partially engages at least one of a radially inward surface of the end portion and a radially outward surface of the end portion of the composite tube.

Abstract: A metallic/composite joint may comprise a composite member having a flared end or an angled end, a liner perimetrically surrounding the composite member, and a metallic member perimetrically surrounding the liner. A first side of the liner contacts the composite member and a second side of the liner contacts the metallic member. The liner perimetrically surrounds at least a portion of the flared end. A through-thickness compressive stiffness of the liner may be less than a similar stiffness of the composite member.

Abstract: An arrangement for landing gear comprises a piston, a bogie beam and forward and rear brake rods. The piston has an attachment portion with a pivot connection for the bogie beam at its lower end. The bogie beam is mounted to the attachment portion at the pivot connection. The bogie beam supports forward and rear brake assemblies on forward and rear sides of the piston. The forward brake rod is connected to the forward brake assembly at a location for acting under tension during braking and the rear brake rod is connected to the rear brake assembly at a location for acting under tension during braking. The rear end of the forward brake rod is connected to the attachment portion forward of the pivot connection of the bogie beam, and a forward end of the rear brake rod is connected to the attachment portion.
