摘要: Polyester polymer compositions are described containing one or more nucleating agents and optionally reinforcing fibers. The polyester polymer, for instance, can be poly butylene terephthalate. The polymer composition is particularly formulated in order to be substantially transparent at specific wavelengths of light. Consequently, the polyester polymer composition is well suited for use in laser transmission welding in which a laser beam passes through the polymer composition and forms a weld on an adjoining surface. In one aspect, a black pigment masterbatch can be added to the composition for further improving the transparency properties.

摘要: The present disclosure is drawn to a composite particulate build material, including 92 wt % to 99.5 wt % polymeric particles having an average size from 10 μm to 150 μm and an average aspect ratio of less than 2:1. The composite particulate build material further includes from 0.5 wt % to 8 wt % reinforcing particles having an average size of 0.1 μm to 20 μm and an average aspect ratio of 3:1 to 100:1 applied to surfaces of the polymeric particles, wherein the reinforcing particles include mica or glass.

A scalper scalps off balsa wood and foam from recycled composite chips, a lump breaker shatters the chips produced by the scalper, a hammer mill breaks fiber chips produced by the lump breaker to reduce the chips to strand clusters, a vibratory screen and cyclone air classifier or circular vibratory screener separate strand clusters of acceptable size from larger strand clusters that require repeated processing with a hammer mill, another vibratory screen and cyclone air classifier or circular vibratory screener further separate strand clusters of acceptable size from larger strand clusters that require repeated processing with a hammer mill, and a granulator pulverizes the resulting fiber strand into micro-fibers that can be used as reinforcement fibers.

The composite top has a reinforcement positioned between first and second layers of fiber mats. A closed-cavity bag molding process of making a truck cap includes placing a first layer of fiber mat into a mold cavity, applying a bleeder strip around an edge of the mat and periphery of the mold, placing a reinforcement into a roof portion of the mold, placing a second layer of fiber mat into the mold cavity over the first layer and reinforcement layer, providing a flexible cover over the layers of fiber mat, actuating a vacuum to remove most of the air between the cover and mold, and delivering resin to the layers of fiber mat and reinforcement.
