Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring aircraft to mitigate potential loss of communication scenarios. One exemplary method involves monitoring a plurality of communications channels using an onboard communications system, maintaining associations between respective communications channel assignments and respective operational contexts based on the plurality of clearance communications, and in response to detecting a change in an operational context of the aircraft, providing indication of a recommended communications channel based on an association between the recommended communications channel and one of the plurality of different operational contexts corresponding to a current operational context of the aircraft.

For instance, the method may include receiving the analytical model from a cloud service; obtaining local data of the IIoT edge node; analyzing the local data to determine a situational context of the IIoT edge node; determining whether to transform the analytical model based on a fit between the analytical model and the situational context; and in response to determining to transform the analytical model, transforming the analytical model based on the situational context to derive a transformed analytical model.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for autonomously enabling remote operation of a vehicle such as an aircraft in response to detecting an event that may impact manual operation of the vehicle. One method autonomously detects an event with respect to manual operation of the vehicle based at least in part on output from one or more systems onboard the vehicle, identifies a hands-free functionality of a vehicle system to be activated based at least in part on a characteristic of the event, and autonomously initiates activation of the hands-free functionality of the vehicle system. A command for operating the vehicle is received from an external system via an onboard communications system and provided to the vehicle system for further implementation or execution using the hands-free functionality.

The method includes: receiving data regarding the vehicle from at least one of a source of verbal data and a source of non-verbal data; determining a context associated with the data and a variable parameter associated with the context; determining a display element associated with the at least one display that corresponds to the determined variable parameter; generating a symbol for the display to display adjacent to the determined display element based on at least one of the determined context and the determined variable parameter; generating a selectable icon for the display to render adjacent to the symbol based on received verbal data; associating the received verbal data to the selectable icon; and outputting the received verbal data to an audio device based on a selection of the selectable icon.

Abstract: Systems and methods for contextual alerts during ground operations are provided. The system generates unique alerts for each type of hot-spot and commands a display system to render an image of the route, the relevant signage features, and the hot-spots. The system receives an assigned runway and references an airport features database to construct a route and travel direction for the aircraft. The system analyzes the signage features associated with the route and identifies the relevant signage features. The system processes the route with external inputs, such as notices to airmen (NOTAM), traffic data, and novel rules and data tables, from which the system identifies various kinds of hot-spots. The hot-spots include those that are aerodrome design based, those that are traffic related, and those that are temporal, based on short term closures or operational scenarios.

Abstract: Systems and methods for weather impact prediction are provided. The system receives current weather information and identifies a region along an intended flight path with a weather pattern of moderate or low severity. The system uses the identified region and aircraft identification to search a source of historical weather incidents to find a weather incident entry match, defined as a co-occurrence of a matching aircraft type, matching weather pattern, and matching severity rating. The match is evaluated for (i) structural damage, (ii) performance degradation, (iii) exterior damage, and (iv) inspection requirements, and a predicted weather impact report is generated for the identified region, the predicted weather impact report includes one or more of (i) structural damage, (ii) performance degradation, (iii) exterior damage, and (iv) inspection requirements. The system displays the predicted weather impact report.

Abstract: A method and system of monitoring aural and message alerts received during flight in an internet of things (IOT) cockpit of an aircraft generated by systems within the cockpit, the method includes: receiving a plurality of alerts which include at least one of an aural alert or message alert; applying a first natural language processing (NLP) process to the aural alert to convert the aural alert to a text alert consistent in structure with the message alert for aggregating together with the message alert to form a concatenated message alert; and identifying the context of the concatenated message alert by applying a second NLP process to the concatenated message alert in its entirety and subsequent tagging the concatenated message alert to associate a tagged message with a display element wherein the tagged message is a concatenated message.
