Abstract: An integrated WLAN/WWAN architecture is described, in which signaling used to control the integration of the WLAN/WWAN architecture is performed over the Radio Resource Control (“RRC”) plane. The integrated architecture may provide a network-controlled framework for performing traffic steering and radio resource management. Additionally, according to the disclosure provided herein, the integrated architecture may interwork with legacy systems (e.g., architectures that do not support the integrated WLAN/WWAN architecture).

Abstract: Technology for an eNodeB operable to control communications at a relay user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The eNodeB can select the relay UE to relay proximity services (ProSe) traffic between the eNodeB and a remote UE based on one or more relay quality indicators associated with the relay UE. The eNodeB can communicate, to the relay UE, control signaling to configure one or more orthogonal timelines to cause the relay UE to resolve ProSe communications between the relay UE and the remote UE that conflict with uplink hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) or negative acknowledgement (NACK) transmissions from the relay UE to the eNodeB.

Abstract: Traffic engineering functionalities are described in a heterogeneous network that includes an anchor base station serving a cellular macro cell and booster base stations serving mmWave enabled small cells. The described functionalities are designed to cope with dynamic changes in the heterogeneous environment such as loss of a backhaul link between the anchor base station and the booster base station, loss of a link between a terminal and one of the base stations, and loss of beam forming in a mmWave link between the terminal and the booster base station.
