Abstract: The application is at least directed to a core network including a non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon for registering a network function or network function template in the core network. The network includes a processor, operably coupled to the non-transitory memory. The processor is configured to perform the instruction of determining that registration of the network function or network function template is acceptable. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of transmitting a message including the network function or network function template to a repository in the core network. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of verifying the network function or network function template against existing policies in the core network. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of registering the network function or network function template in the repository after verification. The application is also directed to a core network that discovers a network function or network function template therein. The application is also directed to a core network that instantiates a network function.

Abstract: An electronic device including circuitry configured to send a request to a core network, wherein the request informs the core network that the electronic device is capable of aggregating data and relaying data from other electronic devices; receive one or more aggregation policies from the core network, wherein the one or more aggregation policies provide parameters that instruct how the electronic device is to aggregate and relay data; receive data from the other electronic devices; aggregate the data from the other electronic devices based on the parameters; and send the aggregated data to the core network.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may establish a connection with a non-3GPP device. For example, the non-3GPP device may be a smart watch a tablet, a health monitoring device, or an appliance. The connection may be established via a wireless communication protocol, such as WiFi or Bluetooth. The WTRU may establish a connection with a cellular network. The non-3GPP device may lack the capability to connect directly to the cellular network. The WTRU may receive a request from the non-3GPP device for access to the cellular network. The WTRU may perform an authentication procedure with the network using information from the request, such as an identity of the non-3GPP device. After authentication, the WTRU may route data traffic between the non-3GPP device and the cellular network.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are described for improved edge network access for a UE. According to some aspects, a UE may receive a first Data Network Name (DNN) from an application and determine, based on a Data Network Name (DNN) Replacement Rule, the first DNN is associated with a second Data Network Name (DNN), where the first DNN and the second DNN are different. The UE may determine, based on the DNN Replacement Rule, to associate traffic from the application with a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) Session, where the PDU Session may be used to send data from the application to a network and the PDU Session is associated with the second DNN.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for determining context information for one or more peers to be used in a peer discovery and/or peer association process(es) and/or to otherwise facilitate P2P proximity communications. For example, a method for determining peer context information may include receiving a context-aware identifier (CAID). The CAID may include one or more items of context information associated with the peer in addition to an indication of an identity of the peer. A first portion of the CAID may be decoded to determine a first item of context information associated with the peer. The first portion of the CAID may be decodable without having to process a payload portion of the message. It may be determined whether to continue processing one or more of the CAID or the message based on the first item of context information. The CAID may be used in discovery and/or association procedure(s).

Abstract: A method of multi-hop relay chain formation in a wireless communication network includes discovering, via a remote electronic device, one or more other electronic devices in communication range of the remote electronic device; selecting one of the discovered electronic devices as an relay electronic device for communicating in the multi-hop relay chain; after selecting the relay electronic device, transmitting, via the remote electronic device, a request to establish a PC5 link; and establishing the PC5 link with the remote electronic device to join or form the multi-hop relay chain within the wireless communication network.

Abstract: Cellular devices are becoming more and more powerful, and may host a number of different non-cellular capabilities, such as cameras, accelerometers, and sensors. Today, these capabilities are used mainly to provide some service to the device or the device owner. Disclosed herein are methods and systems for enabling devices to register their device capabilities with a cellular network, providing a mechanism for Application Servers to discover non-cellular capabilities of the devices, providing a mechanism to have the Application Servers configure these non-cellular capabilities of the devices, and preparing the device and the network for cellular traffic generated as a result of the Application Server using these non-cellular capabilities.
