    摘要: A process is provided for removing impurities from the gaseous product of an alkyl nitrite production zone by contacting a portion of it with lower alcohol and oxygen to convert substantially all of the nitric oxide in that portion of the gaseous product stream to alkyl nitrite, the oxygen being present in an amount such that the mole ratio of nitric oxide to oxygen is in the range of about 4:1 to about 2:1 and the lower alcohol being present in the reaction zone such that the mole ratio of nitric oxide to lower alcohol is about 1:1 or less. A recovery stream, comprising alkyl nitrite substantially free of nitric oxide, is withdrawn from the reaction zone and at least a portion of the alkyl produced in the reaction zone is removed. A least a portion of the balance of the recovery stream from which the alkyl nitrite has been removed is purged, thereby removing impurities from the process.

    摘要: The engine of a self-propelled combine is mounted in an enclosure having an inlet through which cooling air is drawn by an engine-driven fan. The air is filtered by a rotating disk-like screen mounted over the air inlet before passing through a radiator adjacent the inlet. A duct extends across the face of the disk from its center to periphery, changes direction and terminates with an open end adjacent the inlet side of the fan by-passing the radiator. The duct is also open adjacent the face of the screen so that the fan draws air through the duct, (some of the air being necessarily drawn from inside the screen as it passes the duct opening) so that foreign material filtered from the mass of cooling air being drawn through the unobstructed portion of the screen and held on the screen exterior surface is removed and carried through the duct. A trash knife rigidly attached to the periphery of the screen extends outwards parallel to the screen's axis of rotation. The knife is shielded by and travels within an annular channel-like shroud as the disk rotates. The shroud is connected with and intersects the duct so that as the screen rotates the knife passes through the duct, closely adjacent a shear bar supported there. The knife cuts or dislodges any foreign material lodged in the duct where it changes direction so that it may continue its passage carried by the air flow through the duct. A relatively flexible material with a high percentage open area is used for the filter element of the screen and is held taut by a compression spring pressing outwards on a thrust washer at the center of the screen to form it into a shallow cone.

The vacuum filter cartridge can have a hose operatively connected thereto. Air can be induced to flow into and through the hose, and thereby into and through the vacuum filter cartridge. The airflow can have a velocity sufficient to cause debris to be inducted into the hose and into the vacuum filter cartridge to be filtered, thus rendering the vacuum filter cartridge and hose operable as a cleaning device.

    摘要: A self cleaning rotary screen of an agricultural combine is provided with a planar circular screen that is secured to an outwardly extending circular flange having an external groove and an internal groove. The screen is rotatably coupled to a pivotable door by a plurality of freely rotatable wheels which engage the internal groove of the flange. Also secured to the door are two freely rotatable idler sheaves located adjacent to the pivot axis of the door so that the centerpoint of the endless belt when coupled to the outer periphery of the sheaves forms a tangent axis that is substantially aligned with the pivot axis of the door. A driving sheave is operatively coupled to the propulsion system of the combine and is provided with a central rotational axis that intersects the tangent axis of the idler sheaves.

The device includes a base wall, first and second pairs of side walls extending upwardly from the base wall, and a divider wall extending substantially parallel to each of the first pair of side walls and between each wall of the second pair of side walls. A pair of storage compartments, each bounded by the base wall, one of the first pair of side walls, the divider wall and the second pair of side walls is thus formed. Hook storage and dispensing tubes are disposed at the top of and extend along each of the first pair of side walls. Each of the storage compartments receives a trotline, while the hook storage and dispensing tubes receive and retain hooks connected by leaders to the trotline so that as the storage and dispensing device is moved away from an anchored end of each trotline, the trotline, leaders and hooks are pulled over one of the second pair of side walls and out of the storage and dispensing device.

    摘要: A process for making alkylene carbonate by the reaction of carbon dioxide and an alkylene oxide of the formula ##STR1## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are one or more of hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, allyloxy, chloroalkyl, and aryloxy to produce the corresponding carbonate, which comprises:(a) providing a homogeneous liquid phase reaction zone in which the predominant material therein is the alkylene carbonate;(b) providing a catalytic amount of an alkylene oxide carbonation catalyst to said liquid phase;(c) having dissolved in said liquid phase sufficient CO.sub.2 to provide a molal amount therein which exceeds the molal amount of the catalyst;(d) providing a CO.sub.2 pressure in the reaction zone of between about 150 psig and about 750 psig;(e) maintaining a sufficient amount of the alkylene oxide in the reaction to maintain the pressure and temperature thereof;(f) maintaining the reaction zone at a temperature at which the alkylene oxide and CO.sub.2 react to form alkylene carbonate, which temperature is not greater than about 200.degree. C.; and(g) correlating the reaction zone temperature and pressure to yield an alkylene carbonate efficiency of at least about 99% and a conversion of at least 99.5%.
