摘要: A motor speed control system comprises an encoder (12) which produces a series of indicator pulses related to the motor's speed. The period of the pulse is compared with that of a crystal-controlled reference period produced by a period generator (14). Comparison is made by means of a period comparator (16) consisting of logic elements, including flip-flops (F1, F2, F3) and gates (G1 and G2). Digital outputs of the period comparator control UP and DOWN charge pumps whose integrated value controls the motor through a power driver. Advantages of the system are precise digital control with crystal accuracy.

摘要: A submersible pumping system is disclosed for pumping cryogenic liquid from a reservoir in which a pump and motor unit is lowered to the bottom of a fluid transmitting casing in the reservoir. An isolation chamber is provided in the casing above the roof of the reservoir into which the pump and motor unit is raised for removal. A special sealing arrrangement is provided which maintains the casing and reservoir isolated from the atmosphere when lifting the pump and motor unit, yet allows a flexible suspension cable to be utilized.

摘要: A thoracostomy tube provides a pumping arrangement associated with the tube for removing blood and like fluids which enter the tube from the chest cavity area. An elongated tube for conveying liquids is provided, a portion of the tube being insertable, at least in part, into the thoracic cavity area of a patient during a thoracostomy. A valve, which can be, for example, a Heimlich valve, is associated with the tube and is mounted in the distal end portion which is placed into the lung cavity area during the thoracostomy. The valve allows fluids to flow into the tube under the urging of only the pressure normally experienced within the lung cavity. Once fluids pass from the lung cavity area into the tube through the valve, they are removed by a vacuum which is created at the outlet portion of the valve.

摘要: A packet crosspoint works with an arbiter to control the number of packets being received at the input ports of the cross-connect from traffic sources coupled thereto. This is accomplished by monitoring the number of packets waiting in buffers in the output ports, as well as the number of other packets which the arbiter has already granted for transmission to the input ports of the cross-connect, but which have not as of yet been received in the output queue of the destination output port. An audit mechanism is included for ensuring that output port grant counters do not drift upward based on the fact that some granted packets are lost in the system.

摘要: A weighted round robin (WRR) engine includes components to arbitrate emission of ATM cells assigned to different flows. In one embodiment termed an inter-QoS WRR, the flows are linked to quality of service (QoS) parameters. A tag value is further assigned to each QoS parameter. Whenever the QoS is selected by the Inter-QoS WRR to have a flow emit an ATM cell, the tag value for the QoS is incremented by a weight assigned to the QoS. The QoS selected by the Inter-QoS WRR is the QoS with the lowest tag. If two or more QoSs are tied with the lowest tag, the highest numbered QoS is selected by the WRR.

摘要: A multi-rate sample MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) digital receiver maintains synchronization of digitally processed signals. This multi-rate sample data system is used to demodulate and filter a digitized MRI RF signal. A phase/timing relationship is established between the signal received and processed by the digital receiver, and the physical nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) process the body being imaged is undergoing. Once established, the phase/timing relationship is maintained for the duration of the particular NMR experiment being performed. Special logic in the digital system ensures that the data output is synchronized with an external synchronous signal controlling data acquisition within the MRI system. Optimum signal processing is performed to minimize the time between the end of the acquisition control signal and the last output from the digital signal processing system.

摘要: In accordance with a broad aspect of the invention, a system is presented for parametrically and functionally testing integrated circuit devices in parallel. At least one integrated circuit device receiving channel is provided for defining a plurality of integrated circuit device test stations therealong, and means are provided for delivering parametric and functional test signals at least functionally in parallel to each of the integrated circuit device test stations. Means are provided at each test station for selectively engaging the integrated circuit devices to apply the parametric and functional test signals to the integrated circuit device at that station, and to selectively isolate the device from the test signals. Means are provided for receiving an output from each test location in response to the test signals, and means for determining from the output the parameters of each tested integrated circuit device. In accordance with the invention, means are provided for sorting the tested integrated circuit devices according to their measured or tested parameters.

摘要: A venous cannula apparatus is comprised of a fluid conveying tube, the tube providing an upper tube portion which communicates with a pair of lower connected tube branch members. Each of the lower tube branches is normally in an angular position with respect to the upper tube, thus allowing the tube branches to coincide with the atrium, superior vena cava and inferior vena cava during an operation requiring a cardio pulmonary bypass. In the preferred embodiment, two flexible lower branch members are provided forming a "wye" or "tee" with the upper tube portion. The entire cannula structure is manufactured of a material having a "memory" so that after a flexure of the branch members, they return to their operative or normal "tee" or "wye" position. A substantially stiffened sleeve member is cooperatively associated with and connectable to the fluid conveying tube, the sleeve being slideable about the tube and being capable of urging the lower tube branches into an aligned position with the upper tube portion. The apparatus can be utilized during a cardiopulmonary bypass, with only a single opening being formed in the atrium. The cannula apparatus is operatively inserted through an opening surgically formed in the atrium. Removal thereafter of the sleeve allows the branch members to diverge and insert respectfully into the superior and inferior vena cava. Closures form substantially fluid tight seals between the cannula structure and the heart before bypass begins.
