Disclosed is a diacetylene compound comprising, as structural units, (a) at least one member selected from diacetylene group-containing organic groups of the formulae (I) and (II):R.sup.I --C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R.sup.II -- (I)and--R.sup.III --C.tbd.C--C.tbd.C--R.sup.IV -- (II)wherein R.sup.I is hydrogen or a (C1-16) monovalent organic group, and R.sup.II, R.sup.III and R.sup.IV are a (C1-13) divalent organic group, (b) at least one organic group having at least one carbon-to-carbon double bond, and (c) at least one connecting group connecting the units (a) and (b), which connecting group is selected from amide, imide, ester, ether, amino, imino, urethane, sulfonyl and carbonyl bonds. A cured shaped article made of this compound exhibits isotropically a high elastic modulus and has excellent mechanical properties.

There is provided a polyketone comprising repeating units, 95-100 mole % of which are 1-oxotrimethylene and having an intrinsic viscosity of 2.5-20 dl/g, wherein the content of Pd element is 0-20 ppm, terminal structures include an alkyl ester group (terminal group A) and an alkyl ketone group (terminal group B), and the equivalent ratio of terminal group A/terminal group B is 0.1-8.0. The polyketone of the present invention can be used in any forms, such as fibers and films, and can be applied to a wide variety of the uses such as clothing, reinforcing materials for rubbers, resins, cements, and optical fibers, electronic materials, battery materials, civil engineering materials, medical materials, daily commodities, fishery materials, and packaging materials.

There are disclosed polyester fibers that are composed of at least 90% by weight of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) and have a limiting viscosity of 0.4-2, being characterized by containing a phosphorus compound at 10-250 ppm in terms of weight of elemental phosphorus, containing no more than 3 wt % of cyclic dimers, containing no more than 2 wt % of bis(3-hydroxypropyl) ether copolymerized with the poly(trimethylene terephthalate), and having a birefringence of 0.03 or greater. The polyester fibers are poly(trimethylene terephthalate)-based fibers with excellent whiteness and tenacity, which are obtained by melt spinning of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) resin composition with improved whiteness, melt stability and spinning stability. The polyester fibers of the invention have satisfactory processability and can be mixed with stretch fibers and the like to provide fabrics having functions that cannot be obtained with commonly used polyester fibers and nylon fibers, for various types of clothing products and the like.

Accordingly, the polyester fiber of the present invention is suitable for use in innerwear, outerwear, sportswear, legwear, lining cloths, swimwear and the like. In addition, the polyester fiber can be stably manufactured in high productivity by a process in which spinning and drawing are consecutively conducted to prevent the undrawn yarn from aging.
