摘要: Use of dried rehydratable food, such as in a dried soup, a dried beverage, a breakfast cereal, a yoghurt and a dried sauce, is widespread. However it has been observed that when the dried components are fruit and/or vegetable, the components, on rehydration, do not resemble the fruit and/or vegetable before desiccation. That is to say they no longer have a fresh appearance but are discoloured and lack firmness. This transformation is due to cellular damage which occurs during desiccation. In particular, it is thought that phospholipid membranes are destabilised by insertion of cellular amphiphiles, phase transition into the gel phase and membrane fusion. This invention seeks to solve the above-mentioned technical problem by providing, amongst other things, a dried rehydratable food which is a fruit, vegetable or part thereof which, on rehydration, has improved appearance, texture and rehydration properties. In particular, a dried rehydratable food is provided, the food comprising less than 10% w/w water and at least 0.02% w/w of a dehydrin protein and derivatives thereof, the dehydrin protein and derivatives thereof comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of K,I,K,E,K,L,P,G; K,I,K,E/D,K,L/I,P,G; and K,I,K,E/D,K,L/I/TA/,P/H/S,G, and wherein the dried rehydratable food is unbroken tissue of a vegetable or part thereof and/or a fruit or part thereof, and not a seed, wherein the unbroken tissue has a shortest linear dimension of at least 0.5 millimetres, preferably a shortest linear dimension of 0.5 to 25, more preferably 0.5 to 10 millimetres. A food product comprising the dried rehydratable food and methods for manufacturing the dried rehydratable food are also provided.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for encrypting data without regard to applications writing the data to, or reading the data from, encrypted data storage devices. An operating system intercept detects information indicating that a file will be encrypted and, in respond, sets device-level flags indicating encryption and also establishes one or more encryption keys to be used in the encryption process. A second intercept detects an input/output event and, in response, calls an encryption application to encrypt (or decrypt) the data before it is written to (or read from) the data storage device.

摘要: A jadeite material has a thickness in excess of about 1.0 mm and CIELAB indices of L*>42, a* +6. The grain size of the jadeite material is less than about 30 microns and is an equiaxed grain structure. The jadeite material has an optical transmission peak between 500 and 565 nm with an I/IO optical transmission ratio of over 40%. The first step in making the jadeite material is to wrap a glass block, convertible by HP/HT into jadeite and having a nominal composition of NaAlSi2O6, with a graphite or refractive metal sheet. The wrapped glass block is placed in an HP/HT apparatus, rapidly heated, and subjected therein to a pressure in excess of about 3 GPa and a temperature in excess of about 1000° C. for a time adequate to convert the glass block into jadeite. The jadeite material then is cooled and the pressure subsequently released.

摘要: The invention concerns a process for preparing tetraacetylphytospingosine (TAPS) using F-60-10 mating type strain of Pichia ciferrii. Such strain is subjected to mutagenesis and the high TAPS producing strains are selected by a special procedure. These strains are grown in a fed batch mode on a non-fermentative carbon source at a temperature above 26.degree. C and the TAPS collected from the fermentation medium. Glycerol is a preferred carbon source and preferably L-serine is added to the culture medium.

摘要: The present invention is directed toward methods and devices for analyzing populations of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on the basis of their fluorescence properties and the comparison of said properties to fluorescence profiles of pre-determined SWNT compositions. Generally, such analyzing yields information about the composition of the SWNTs within said population. Such information includes, for example, the relative abundances of semiconducting SWNTs, the diameter distribution of such SWNTs, and the relative abundances of one or more particular SWNT species—as identified by one or more specific nanotube indices (n,m). The methods and devices of the present invention provide for the analysis of SWNT compositions in a rapid and efficient manner.

摘要: A plurality of conductors are deposited on a layer of dielectric that is positioned above a first ground shield. A mound of dielectric is then deposited over each conductor.
