A touch panel device includes a touch panel unit, a fingerprint image capturing unit, a size derivation unit, and a control unit. The touch panel unit includes a display section that displays information about an operating instruction for a user. The touch panel unit detects the condition of contact with a user's finger to accept an input of the operating instruction. When the touch panel unit is pressed by the user's finger, the fingerprint image capturing unit captures an image of a fingerprint of the user's finger pressing the touch panel unit. The size derivation unit derives a size of the user's finger having pressed the touch panel unit from the fingerprint image captured by the fingerprint image capturing unit. The control unit controls the operating instruction based on the size of the user's finger derived by the size derivation unit.

A display/input device includes a display section, a touch panel, and a control section. The display section displays an image. The touch panel detects touch with a display surface of the display section. When the touch panel detects touch of two points of which a positional relationship indicates a first direction, the control section allows the display section to display a plurality of images in a second direction different from the first direction. The control section changes a selected state of an image of the plurality of images according to move of one of the two points.

An image forming apparatus displays preview images representing respective images to be formed on a front side and a back side of paper P. The image forming apparatus includes a display, a display section, a receiving section, and an instruction section. The display section causes the display to display a front-side preview image representing a front-side image to be formed on the front side of the paper. The receiving section receives a specific operation. The instruction section forms the front-side image on the front side of the paper and forms a back-side image on the back side of the paper. When the receiving section receives the specific operation, the display section causes the display to display a back-side preview image representing the back-side image as seen from the front side of the paper through the paper.

The authentication processing portion (91) determines, based on a photographed image obtained from the photographing portion (8), whether a face image of a person is included in the photographed image, and upon determining that a face image of a person is included, performs an authentication process of the person based on the face image of the person. The layout processing portion (92), when the authentication processing portion (91) has successfully authenticated the person, determines whether a layout specification image specifying a page layout is included in the photographed image, and upon determining that a layout specification image is included in the photographed image, creates a composite image by laying out one or more material images in accordance with the page layout specified by the layout specification image.

In a state in which an authentication screen in any one display language of a plurality of display languages is displayed, every time a predetermined number of characters are input to an ID input field, an ID including the characters input to the ID input field in order from a first-input is retrieved from user data. Ids, obtained as a result of the retrieval, are set as candidate IDs. When all display languages selected by users having the candidate IDs are the same, the display language selected by the users having the candidate IDs is set as a first display language. When a display language of an authentication screen, which is being displayed, does not coincide with the first display language, an authentication screen in the first display language is displayed in place of the authentication screen, which is being displayed.

An image forming apparatus includes an internal device that executes a job, a controller, a user management unit, a lock requesting unit, and an unlock requesting unit. The controller suspends the execution of the job when the controller detects a predetermined failure in the internal device during the execution of the job, and resumes the suspended job or starts execution of a next job when the controller detects an elimination of the failure. The user management unit specifies identification information of a user mobile device associated with a user. The lock requesting unit transmits a lock request with the identification information to a predetermined server when the controller has suspended the job. The display portion displays a screen and an image, and displays a plurality of objects as images whose display positions are movable. The touch panel portion is provided for the display portion, and accepts a user's input, and detects a plurality of positions being touched. The determination portion determines whether two points being touched are in the vertical direction or the horizontal direction. The touch panel portion accepts an input of selecting, as selected objects, some or all of the objects displayed on the display portion. When the touch panel portion has detected that two-point touching has been performed thereon in the state where the objects are selected, the display portion aligns the display positions of the selected objects, based on the direction of the touched two points and movement of the touched points.
