An engine lubrication method is provided. The four-cycle engine has an engine block having a cylindrical bore and an enclosed oil reservoir. A crankshaft is mounted in the engine block. An oil pump driven by the cam gear, brings the oil from the oil reservoir and the valve chamber. The engine is provided with a cylinder head assembly having a pair of overhead intake and exhaust valves. A circular arc wall surrounds the web of the crankshaft at a slight distance from the web. The crankshaft web causes the oil to fly to lubricate engine parts and the oil, returns into the oil reservoir by a check valve. Flowing of oil in to the combustion chamber when the engine is oriented to incline is prevented by oil recesses and long pipes. Another lubrication and breathing system without pump is presented, wherein construction except pump is basically followed.

Provided is a process for producing a high-purity α-alumina in which an Si content, an Fe content, a Ca content, and an Na content are simultaneously removed. The high-purity α-alumina is produced by burning aluminum hydroxide having an Na content of 0.11 mass % or less, an Fe content of 6 ppm or less, a Ca content of 1.5 ppm or less, and an Si content of 10 ppm or less as impurities in terms of alumina respectively, and having an average particle diameter of 55 μm or less at a burning temperature of 1,100 to 1,500° C. by using a burning vessel containing Al2O3 in a range of 85 to 93 wt % and SiO2 in a range of 7 to 14 wt % and subjecting the obtained α-alumina to wash treatment.

The present invention is directed to a four-cycle engine including a lightweight aluminum alloy engine block having a cylindrical bore and an oil reservoir formed therein. A crankshaft is rotatably mounted in the engine block for rotation about a crankshaft axis. A piston reciprocates within the bore and is connected to the crankshaft by a connecting rod. An oil pump driven by the cam gear, which mates with a crank gear that is driven by a crank shaft, inhales oil from the oil reservoir and the valve chamber to splash lubricate into the cylinder bore. The engine is provided with a cylinder head assembly defining a compact combustion chamber having a pair of overhead intake and exhaust ports and cooperating intake and exhaust valves and a circular arc wall which surrounds around webs of the crankshaft so that each crankshaft web splashes and causes the oil to fly to lubricate engine parts.

The check valve splashes breathing mist oil from crank shaft room to breather room and causes the oil to supply to lubricate engine parts in valve chamber and the oil, after lubricating the parts, is returned into the oil reservoir.The oil in crank shaft chamber, after lubricating engine parts, is returned to oil reservoir guided by scroll-shaped wall and a hole provided on the scroll-shaped wall.In case of stock of engine oriented power take off side up or down, oil is prevented to flow from oil reservoir to combustion chamber by a weir which is provided between circular wall and scrolled or extended wall.

A direct injection internal combustion engine includes catalysts for purifying exhaust gases, the catalysts being disposed in an exhaust passage of the engine. A control device controls the engine so as to warm up or activate the catalysts. The control device includes a first control part for controlling the engine with an air-fuel ratio of the engine being set at a value in proximity to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, an ignition timing being set at a point after a top dead center and a fuel injection timing being set within a compression stroke, and a second control part for controlling the engine with an air-fuel ratio of the engine being set at a value in proximity to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, with an ignition timing being set before a top dead center and a fuel injection timing being set within a compression stroke after the first control part controls the engine. The controlling operation performed by the first control part enables stable after-burning and raises the exhaust temperature. The following controlling operation of the second control part enables CO and O2 to coexist in the exhaust gases and react on the catalysts

A solar battery system characterized by at least one solar cell for converting light energy to electrical energy which is stored in the system is provided. The solar cell is formed of a semiconductor selected from the group consisting of single crystal, polycrystalline and amorphous substrates and is coupled in parallel to an energy-storage capacitor, which capacitor is also connected in parallel with a loading circuit. The capacitor is formed of compressed particles of activated carbon which stores electrical energy charged to it by the solar cell at a selected voltage level. A diode is coupled in series to an output terminal of said solar cell to prevent the flow of a reverse current to the solar cell during discharge of the capacitor to the loading circuit.
