Abstract:
The present invention addresses problems associated with accessing and using automated systems for scheduled travel events and provides a method and system for communicating information to a user interacting with an automated system for accessing travel schedule data. In a first embodiment of the present invention, a user request can be processed for an event scheduled on an automated system. An occurrence time for the scheduled event can then be loaded. If the occurrence time is within a preconfigured time interval including midnight, a disambiguation process can be triggered for the scheduled event. The scheduled event can be an airline flight and the occurrence time can be an arrival or departure time. The disambiguation process can include prompting a user with a disambiguation message, wherein the disambiguation message makes reference to either an arrival date for the airline flight or a departure date for the airline flight.
Abstract:
A method (10) in a speech recognition application callflow can include the steps of assigning (11) an individual option and a pre-built grammar to a same prompt, treating (15) the individual option as a valid output of the pre-built grammar if the individual option is a potential valid match to a recognition phrase (12) or an annotation (13) in the pre-built grammar, and treating (14) the individual option as an independent grammar from the pre-built grammar if the individual option fails to be a potential valid match to the recognition phrase or the annotation in the pre-built grammar.
Abstract:
A surface repair kit includes an air-permeable breathable membrane coated with a premeasured amount of joint compound in its wet state. The membrane is suspended in a semi-rigid flexible frame and an opposing cover sheet is affixed over the compound around the backside of the frame. This framed composition is encased in an airtight package to prevent the compound from hardening. Included in the packaging may be a wall patch with an adhesive surface that holds a peel-off covering. Sandpaper may also be included in the kits since some repairs may require a final light sanding. The outside of the packaging carries simple printed instructions for the user to carry out the steps of peel, press and roll with accompanying illustrations so that drywall repairs can be carried out even by an unskilled novice.
Abstract:
A drywall patch is coated with a premeasured amount of joint compound in its wet state making it immediately available for application to a wall surface. The patch with compound is sealed in an airtight wrapper or between unsealed wrapper halves which are in turn sealed in a surrounding airtight package so that the joint compound stays moist and will not harden over time. The wrapper includes a peel-away adhesive dry patch. In use, the dry patch is first applied over a crack or hole to be repaired. The wrapper and compound are applied directly over the dry patch and, while the wrapper remains in place, pressure is applied to smooth the compound over the patch and removed after the compound has dried. The wrapper is preferably composed of microporous breathable plastic film.
Abstract:
A system and method for heat treating castings and removing sand cores therefrom. The castings are initially located in indexed positions with their x, y, and z coordinates known. The castings are passed through a heat treatment station typically having a series of nozzles mounted in preset positions corresponding to the known indexed positions of the castings passing through the heat treatment station. The nozzles apply heat to the castings for heat treating the castings and dislodging the sand cores for removal from the castings.
Abstract:
A vehicle ignition interlock system includes a breath analyzer, a transdermal alcohol sensor configured to be worn by the vehicle operator, and a controller operably connected to the breath analyzer, to the transdermal alcohol sensor, and to an ignition system of the vehicle. The transdermal alcohol sensor is configured to be worn by the vehicle operator, and is configured to detect alcohol through the skin of the vehicle operator. The controller is configured to override one or more periodic breath analyzer retests if alcohol is not detected through the skin of the operator by the transdermal alcohol sensor. The controller is configured to increase the frequency of periodic breath analyzer retests of the vehicle operator in response to the transdermal alcohol sensor detecting alcohol through the skin of the operator. A proximity sensor detects proximity of the transdermal alcohol sensor relative to a vehicle operator area.
Abstract:
A method for providing driving directions can include the step of within a mobile telephone device, associating one or more of audio files with enabling GPS coordinates. The audio files can include digitally encoded speech that specify driving instructions. Current GPS coordinates for the mobile telephone device can be ascertained. When the current GPS coordinates match enabling GPS coordinates, the audio file associated with the enabling GPS coordinates can be played.
Abstract:
A method and system of identifying and optimizing audio segments in a speech application program. Audio segments are identified and extracted from a speech application program. The audio segments containing audio text to be recorded are then optimized in order to facilitate the recording of the audio text. The optimization of the extracted audio segments may include accounting for programmed pauses and variables in the speech application code, identifying multi-sentence segments and the presense of duplicate audio segments, and accounting for the effects of coarticulation.
Abstract:
A method, a system, and an apparatus for efficiently presenting correction options. The present invention is capable of analyzing user voice commands and sorting multiple input requests based on user selection probability to determine whether a confirmation step should be presented and, if so, the manner in which the confirmation step should be presented. In particular, the method requests an information input from the user and then assigns a confidence level to the information input. If the confidence level is LOW, then the system performs an immediate confirmation step. If the confidence level assigned is MEDIUM or HIGH, then the information is placed into a data set that is confirmed in a batch confirmation step. The batch confirmation step presents the captured information to the user for confirmation. If any of the information is incorrect, then the method sorts the information in ascending order by confidence level and creates a menu of items that may be changed. The user then makes the change. Once all changes have been made, the batch confirmation is complete as well as the information collection process.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for optimizing the usability of a hierarchical menu in voice portal directory. A voice aggregator is programmed to rearrange the menu into a new hierarchical structure having a single layer. Portions of the hierarchy are partially restored if too many nodes, or duplicate nodes, are present at any selection step. Frequency of selection data are measured and applied to the nodes and used to order the nodes in the new hierarchy. Frequency of selection data are also used to determined which nodes are replaced in a hierarchy when it is partially restored.
