Abstract:
An apparatus and method for generating a three dimensional (3D) stereo sound signal from a received audio signal in a mobile communication system are provided. In the 3D stereo sound generating apparatus, a low-frequency signal extraction portion extracts a low-frequency signal from a received audio signal, a spatiality generator generates a spatiality signal from the received audio signal, an output mode selector receives the spatiality signal and the low-frequency signal and selects an output mode for a 3D stereo sound signal, and an output portion outputs the 3D stereo sound signal to a predetermined output device according to the selected output mode.
Abstract:
An imaging intrusion detection method combines condensing lenses with a plurality of light sources to form and illuminate a plurality of collimated light beams to a security area as dot lighting. A dot image of the security area to which the dot lighting is illuminated by an intrusion monitoring camera is obtained and stored in a memory as reference dot information. When an input image is obtained by periodically photographing the security area, dot information is extracted from the input image to compare the dot information with the reference dot information, and it is determined whether there is an intrusion in the security area according to a change of a dot based on a result of comparison.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for automatically changing the broadcast channel for a mobile communication terminal adapted to receive digital multimedia broadcasts. The apparatus includes a memory unit for storing an adjacent area database and an area-wise broadcast channel database; a search unit for searching for broadcast channels and receiving broadcasts; and a control unit for determining the received field strength of at least one adjacent area frequency based on the adjacent area database during digital multimedia broadcast playback, and when a predetermined threshold is exceeded, determining that a movement into a corresponding adjacent area is occurring, the control unit controlling the search unit to search through broadcast channels of the adjacent area in the area-wise broadcast channel database to find a broadcast channel identical to a broadcast channel used for playback before the movement into the adjacent area.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a single or multi-route map matching apparatus in a system which provides a navigation service via a mobile communication terminal. The map matching apparatus comprises: an information center for calculating an optimum route to a destination inputted by a user based upon a present location of the mobile communication terminal, and generating a format of route data based upon the calculated optimum route; and an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) terminal for detecting the present location of the mobile terminal to generate location data, processing the route data, performing map matching based upon the location data to determine whether the user travels on a given route or departs from the route, and performing road guidance based upon a result of the map matching.
Abstract:
An off-board navigation system and method for calibrating an error using the same. A server provided in the off-board navigation system calculates a predetermined path using a pre-stored map in response to a request, generates calibration information based upon the calculated path, and transmits the calculated path and the calibration information. A terminal provided in the off-board navigation system requests that the server calculate the predetermined path, receives the calculated path and the calibration information, compares the calibration information and position information measured by sensors embedded in the terminal, and compensates for the sensors. The off-board navigation system can calibrate a position error between map information and actual traveling information, and hence can improve the accuracy of navigation service.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining a handoff target base station in a mobile communication system according to a direction of travel of a mobile station are provided. The mobile station measures strengths of pilot signals transmitted from base stations in proximity thereto and transmits information about the measured strengths to a base station controller (BSC). The BSC selects one of the base stations as the handoff target base station depending on the measured strength information and relative location of the mobile station with respect to each of the base stations. In an alternate embodiment, the mobile station selects the handoff target base station based on weights assigned to each base station according to a predicted direction of travel for the mobile station. The mobile station then selects one of the base stations as the handoff target base station depending upon the measured strengths and weights.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting and for storing destination information in a mobile communication terminal is disclosed. The method for transmitting destination information includes determining whether a navigation mode is enabled and, if the navigation mode is enabled, determining whether a hot key is pressed for a predetermined time. If the hot key is pressed for the predetermined time, destination address information corresponding to the hot key is read, and transmitted to an information center over a wireless network. Therefore, since a phone book of the mobile communication terminal is interworked with destination address information for navigation, the present invention simplifies procedures needed to transmit the destination address information using the mobile communication terminal.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal for controlling a vehicle using a short message by establishing authentication information to establish mutual authentication between the vehicle acting and a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal requests initial information needed for an automatic control function from the vehicle using the authentication information, and checks the vehicle's automatic control available items associated with the initial information received from the vehicle. Upon receiving user's selection information needed for the automatic control function, the mobile terminal generates a short message containing a control command corresponding to items from among the checked automatic control available items, and transmits the short message to the vehicle. The user uses a short message in a mobile communication network to remotely control a vehicle. User interface using icons allow the user to conveniently control the vehicle at a remote site.
Abstract:
A data transmitting and receiving method between a mobile terminal and an information center in a navigation system is disclosed. The present invention is characterized in that if lower items of a destination are not received from the information center in the middle of receiving destination setting items to set the destination after the mobile terminal transmits a destination setting request message to the information center, the mobile terminal sends a reconnection request message and stored destination setting data.
Abstract:
There is provided an antenna array apparatus using a GPS signal in a base station and a beamforming method thereof. In the antenna array apparatus, a GPS signal processor receives GPS position information from a mobile station and calculates the position information of the mobile station. A signal processor calculates a weight vector using the position information to form a transmission/reception beam. A transmission/reception beamformer forms the transmission/reception beam according to the weight vector.
