Abstract:
A method of beam recovery request (BRR) transmission is proposed. In a first step of beam failure detection, UE detects a beam failure condition of the original serving beam. In a second step of candidate beam identification, UE performs measurements for candidate beam selection. In a third step of BRR transmission, UE transmits a BRR message to BS upon the triggering condition for BRR is satisfied. In a fourth step of monitoring BS response, UE monitors BS response of the BRR transmission. In one advantageous aspect, the BRR transmission is over dedicated contention-free PUCCH resources, maybe with other uplink control information (UCI). Furthermore, the BRR message indicates the status of one or more configured beams, or the status of one or more identified beams, and reports corresponding beam quality indicators.
Abstract:
A method of supporting group communication over LTE MBMS is provided. A UE first establishes a unicast Evolved Packet Service (EPS) bearer in an LTE network for group communication. The UE belongs to a communication group having a communication group ID. The UE receives access information from the network for monitoring downlink (DL) multicast traffic of the DL group communication based on a multicast decision. The UE is then ready for monitoring a multicast Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) bearer for receiving the DL multicast traffic. The multicast MBMS bearer is associated with a Temporary Mobile Group Identifier (TMGI), and wherein the TMGI is associated with the communication group ID. In one embodiment, the access information comprises mapping information between the TMGI and the communication group ID.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for beam management at a base station (BS) in a wireless communication system. The method can include transmitting a beam training reference signal (RS) resource configuration from a base station (BS) to a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, transmitting an anchor association index indicating an association between a beam pair link and a set of second transmit beams of the BS, wherein the beam pair link is formed by a first transmit beam of the BS and a receive beam of the transmitting beam training RSs according to the beam training RS resource configuration on the set of second transmit beams, and receiving a measurement report including quality measurements of beamformed channels over the receive beam and a subset of the second transmit beams.
Abstract:
A method of beam misalignment detection for wireless communication system with beamforming is proposed. To identify a misaligned beam, a relative beam quality degradation is applied by comparing a dedicated beam quality with a reference beam quality. The reference beam favors similar transmission path as the dedicated beam, and has better mobility robustness. In one embodiment, the reference beam is an associated control beam of the dedicated beam. To detect beam misalignment, a first dedicated beam SINR is compared with a second associated control beam SINR.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) receives and decodes a first erroneous transport block (TB) from a base station in a mobile communication network. The UE allocates a first soft buffer having a first buffer size. The first soft buffer is associated with a first HARQ process for storing the first TB. The UE then receives and decodes a second erroneous TB from the base station. The UE allocates a second soft buffer having a second buffer size. The second soft buffer is associated with a second HARQ process for storing the second TB. The UE releases a portion of the first soft buffer to be allocated as part of the second soft buffer. The dynamic buffer allocation method reduces mismatch between rate matching and soft buffer storing when the total number of HARQ processes is small. In addition, more HARQ processes can be supported when the corresponding TB size is small.

Abstract:
Examples pertaining to measurement resource and report configuration for a communication apparatus supporting device collaboration in mobile communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives a first report configuration associated with at least a first measurement resource allocated in a first frequency band from a network node. The UE determines information regarding a second measurement resource allocated in a second frequency band which is different from the first frequency band. The UE receives a first radio frequency (RF) signal carrying one or more reference signals on the first measurement resource and receives a second RF signal carrying identical one or more reference signals on the second measurement resource.
Abstract:
A first wireless device receives, from a base station, a configuration of first reference signals to be transmitted on a first time-frequency resource and a configuration of second reference signals to be transmitted on a second time-frequency resource. The first wireless device measures one of the first reference signals and the second reference signals. The first wireless device switches to measuring the other one of the second reference signals, wherein the first reference signals are measured to generate first measurements and the second reference signals are measured to generate second measurements. The first wireless device obtains a selection of a communication path, for communicating data between the base station and the first wireless device. The first wireless device obtains a first radio frequency (RF) signal from one or more RF signals carried through the communication path.

A User Equipment (UE), and associated method, including a wireless transceiver, configured to perform wireless transmission and reception to and from a cellular station. A controller is configured to use a first preamble to perform a synchronous transmission on a PRACH to the cellular station via the wireless transceiver, and use a second preamble to perform either of at least two different types of transmission, the two different types of transmission comprising an asynchronous transmission and a synchronous transmission to the cellular station via the wireless transceiver; wherein the controller is further configured to receive a random access response to the synchronous transmission from the cellular station via the wireless transceiver, and wherein a Timing Advance (TA) estimation is not required for the synchronous transmission.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for initial access in the multi-beam operation. In one novel aspect, the UE receives multiple response messages and selects one message as the response message. In one embodiment, the UE selects a subset of a configured UL resources, transmits a first message, wherein the first message is transmitted one or more times on each of the selected set of UL resources, receives one or more first-message-response messages from the BS, and selects one response message, wherein the selected response message indicates a corresponding BS RX resource, which is used by the UE for subsequent communication with the BS. In one embodiment, the selection of UL resources is at least based on transmitting spatial characteristics of the BS, the UE or both, which indicates whether the BS/UE is reciprocal, partial reciprocal or non-reciprocal.
