    摘要: The instant disclosure is directed to a thermoplastic vulcanizate composition comprising a dynamically-cured rubber; from about 20 to about 300 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin per 100 parts by weight rubber and from about 30 to about 250 parts by weight additional oil per 100 parts by weight rubber; wherein the rubber comprises a multimodal polymer composition cured with a curing agent, the multimodal polymer composition comprising 45 to 75 wt% of a first polymer fraction and 25 to 55 wt % of a second polymer fraction, each comprising ethylene, a C3-C10 alpha-olefin, and a non-conjugated diene, wherein the polymer fractions have been polymerized using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system, wherein the first polymer fraction has a Mooney viscosity of greater than or equal to about 150 ML(1+4@125° C.), and the second polymer fraction has a Mooney viscosity of about 20 ML to about 120 ML; and about 10 phr to about 50 phr of an extender oil. A method of producing the thermoplastic vulcanizate is also disclosed.

    摘要: A thermoplastic elastomer formed by a process comprising the steps of dynamically vulcanizing a rubber within a mixture that includes the rubber, from about 10 to about 80 percent by weight of a thermoplastic resin based upon the total weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic combined, and from about 1 to about 25 percent by weight of a polymeric processing additive based upon the total weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic combined, where the polymeric processing additive is a linear polyolefin resin that has an melt flow rate that is greater than about 1,000 dg/min, a diene-modified polyolefin polymer that has an melt flow rate that is greater than about 1,000 dg/min, from about 0.005 to about 2.00 mole percent polymeric units deriving from dienes, and a viscosity average branching index that is from about 0.4 to about 0.95, or a mixture of the linear polyolefin resin and the diene-modified polyolefin polymer, where the step of dynamically vulcanizing the rubber results in vulcanized rubber having a crosslink density of about 40 to about 180 mole per milliliter of rubber.

    摘要: Thermoplastic elastomer compositions and methods for making same. The elastomer composition can include at least one partially cured rubber component that is an ethylene-alpha-olefin-vinyl norbornene elastomeric polymer, and at least one thermoplastic component. The rubber component is at least partially cured using a peroxide curative in an amount effective to yield a cure level of the rubber component of at least 85%. The rubber component has a molecular weight distribution (MWD) less than 6, and a branching index greater than 0.60.

    摘要: Provided are thermoplastic polymer compositions having a single melting point, articles made therefrom, and methods for elevating the melting point of low melting point polymers. Thermoplastic polymer compositions are composed of one or more high melting point polyolefins and a thermoplastic component that includes a low melting point polypropylene. High melting point polyolefins are composed of a stereoregular polypropylene having a tacticity similar to the low melting point polypropylene. The low melting point polypropylene includes, for example, propylene homopolymers and copolymers composed of propylene and one or more comonomers. Thermoplastic polymer compositions may also optionally contain any of the various additives commonly used in such polymer compositions, such as for example oils, etc. In one embodiment, thermoplastic polymer compositions are thermoplastic elastomer compositions that include an elastomeric component composed of an elastomer or rubber. The elastomeric component may be substantially or partially crosslinked to form a thermoplastic vulcanizate.

    摘要: The present invention provides a thermoplastic vulcanizate prepared by a process comprising the steps of dynamically vulcanizing rubber within a blend that includes the rubber and a thermoplastic resin, where the rubber comprises an elastomeric copolymer of ethylene, at least one α-olefin, and optionally one or more diene monomers, where the elastomeric copolymer is characterized by having a crystallinity, as measured by differential scanning calorimetry, of less than 10 J/g, an ethylene content that is less than 90 mole percent based upon the entire copolymer, a weight average molecular weight that is greater than about 20,000 as measured by GPC with polystyrene standards, a molecular weight distribution that is less than 7, and an ethylene compositional distribution that is less than about 4 percent for the closest 90 percent of fractioned samples.
