摘要: A prosthesis for use in maintaining an interspinal space is disclosed. The prosthesis may be provided as first and second substantially symmetrical halves. The first and second halves may each have a coupling portion and a process portion. The coupling portions allow the separate halves to be separately fit within the interspinal space and then connected to form a single prosthesis, eliminating the need for cutting connecting ligaments to allow insertion of the prosthesis. Various connection and locking arrangements are disclosed to maintain the halves engaged with each other and the interspinal space.

摘要: A device for treating spinal stenosis having an implant body structure sized and configured to be positioned between the spinous processes of two adjacent vertebrae. The device may have a body portion having a first end portion, a second end portion and a sleeve between the first and second end portions. The device may also have at least two retainers positioned in and extendable from the body portion. A mechanism positioned within the body portion may be used to move the retainers between a retracted position and a deployed position. When the retainers are in the deployed position, the retainers may be positioned around the spinous process of at least one of two adjacent vertebrae. A plurality of installation tools which may be used to install the device are also disclosed.

摘要: A device for holding a surgical instrument having a body, an instrument engagement device and a knob. The body has a proximal end, a distal end and a passageway positioned through the body. The instrument engagement device is positioned in the passageway and has at least two prongs moveable relative to each other to hold the surgical instrument therebetween. The knob is preferably positioned on the proximal end of the body and operatively associated with the at least two prongs so that movement of the knob causes movement of the prongs. The prongs may further include at least one ridge for engaging at least one slot on the surgical instrument. The knob may further comprise a cap at its proximal end positioned and designed for impact, for example, by a hammer, to facilitate movement of the surgical instrument into the patient. The knob may also include a locking mechanism to fix the position of the prongs.
