Abstract:
A portable, combination dehydrator, dry return air and condensed water generator/dispenser configured to alternately provide water from a reservoir of condensed water or from an alternative source of water. In one embodiment, the alternative source comprises a five-gallon bottle of water and the mounting for the bottle includes a removable cover for preventing contamination of the system when the bottle is not in place. In one embodiment, the system provides purified dry make-up air to a home or office air conditioning system and dehydration cabinet, while producing pure atmospheric condensation from humidity found in the air and purifying the air and water for breathing, dispensing and drinking purposes.
Abstract:
A method is provided for navigation of a mobile device. Spatial information of at least one beacon detected in an image relative to the image is determined. The image includes an image of the at least one beacon within at least part of an environment surrounding the mobile device. A position of the mobile device based on said spatial information is determined using encoded visual information of the at least one beacon.
Abstract:
Advanced lithium-air cell with non-aqueous electrolyte solution is provided, having higher energy density over the prior art cells, due to protective oxygen selective permeable membrane placed over the cathode outer surface. Said membrane protects the cell from moisture and evaporation of said electrolyte, which substantially minimizes parasitic losses of lithium and increases the cell efficiency and safety.

The present invention is a high capacity, non-drum magazine. The high capacity magazine comprises a broad general storage area capable of holding four staggered stacks of ammunition, a unified follower on a spring system biasing the follower and associated ammunition, a central partition a barrier separating two dual staggered round stacks and around which the follower will pass, and a transition area between the feed end of the magazine and the storage area. The spring may be a composite spring system, made of two springs joined in series, or a single, variable constant, spring.
Abstract:
The subject invention concerns materials and methods for gene therapy. One aspect of the invention pertains to vectors which can be used to effect genetic therapy in animals or humans having genetic disorders where expression of high levels of a protein of interest are required to treat or correct the disorder. The subject invention also pertains to methods for treating animals or humans in need of gene therapy to treat or correct a genetic disorder. The materials and methods of the invention can be used to provide therapeutically effective levels of a protein that is non-functional, or that is absent or deficient in the animal or human to be treated. In one embodiment, the materials and methods can be used to treat alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency.
Abstract:
A patient management system and method are provided. The patient management system may include portable computers for the clinicians making house calls, a centralized database for storing patient medical records, and an office system for communicating with the portable computer to provide the clinician with patient medical information by accessing the database and receive patient visit medical information from the physician. The operating system may also update the database with the patient visit information House calls may be made to single family/person residences, congregate care facilities or communities, and others.
Abstract:
A pressure sensing chamber having a tubing extension with a reduced diameter portion extending through the chamber. The tubing contains a plurality of ports so as to allow the purging of air from the chamber, but the ports are sized so that bubbles entering the tubing cannot easily flow into the chamber. The reduced diameter portion creates a pressure differential between the holes. This differential pressure creates flow through the chamber under high liquid flow and turbulent liquid flow events.
Abstract:
A beverage container includes a squeeze-actuated self-sealing valve. An actuation mechanism is disposed between inner and outer walls of the cup portion. The actuation mechanism is acted upon by squeezing the beverage container. The actuation mechanism moves a sliding plate in the cover to expose an opening along a front end of the cover for drinking from the beverage container. When not in use, a biasing mechanism in the actuation mechanism causes the sliding plate of the self-sealing valve to return to the closed position.

A cycle with tapered drivetrain connections. The cycle includes a frame, a crank rotatably connected to the frame, and a driven wheel rotatably connected to the frame. The crank includes a crank arm and a crank spindle rotatably connected to the frame and non-rotatably connected to the crank arm. The crank spindle includes a crank mating surface to interface with the crank arm. The diameter of the crank spindle continuously decreases along at least a portion of the crank mating surface in a lateral direction. The crank arm includes a crank bore to interface with the crank mating surface. At least a portion of the crank bore has a diameter that continuously decreases in lateral direction. At least a portion of the crank bore taper has a taper rate and diameter equal to a taper rate and diameter of at least a portion of the crank spindle taper.
