    Abstract: A light emitting device includes: a light emitting element having an emission peak wavelength in a range of 430 nm to 470 nm; and a fluorescent member including a fluorescent material that is excited by light from the light emitting element for light emission, wherein a mixture of light from the light emitting element and light from the fluorescent material has a correlated color temperature in a range of 1500 K to 11000 K, as measured according to JIS Z8725, the color deviation duv that is a deviation from the black body radiation track on the CIE1931 chromaticity diagram of the mixture of light and is measured according to JIS Z8725 falls within a range of more than 0 to 0.02 or less at a correlated color temperature of 1500 K to 11000 K, and when a value calculated by integrating a product of the spectral distribution of the mixture of light and each relative intensity of a human standard spectral luminous efficiency over a wavelength range of a human visible region is referred to as an integral value a and when a value calculated by integrating a product of the spectral distribution of the mixture of light and each relative intensity of an insect spectral luminous efficiency over a wavelength range where insects exhibit positive phototaxis is referred to as an integral value b, the insect attracting index I defined as a ratio of the integral value b to the integral value a (b/a) is 50% or more and 99% or less of the insect attracting index I0 at the time when the color deviation duv is 0.

    Abstract: Provided are a light emitting device and an illumination device.     Abstract: A method for producing a fluorescent material is provided. The method includes preparing fluorescent material particles that contain an alkaline earth metal aluminate having a composition represented by (Sr1−x,Eux)4Al14O25, where x satisfies 0.05≤x≤0.4, and a part of Sr may be substituted by at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Ba, and Zn; causing the prepared fluorescent material particles to come into contact with a liquid medium containing water; removing at least a portion of the contacted liquid medium to obtain purified fluorescent material particles; causing a phosphate compound to adhere to surfaces of the purified fluorescent material particles to obtain fluorescent material particles to which the phosphate compound is adhered; and heat treating the fluorescent material particles to which the phosphate compound is adhered at 500° C. to 700° C.
