    Abstract: A method of monitoring motion of a conveyance apparatus within a conveyance system is provided. The method including: detecting a first atmospheric air pressure proximate the conveyance apparatus at a first time and a second atmospheric air pressure proximate the conveyance apparatus at a second time using the pressure sensor located on the conveyance apparatus; determining a change in atmospheric air pressure proximate the conveyance apparatus in response to the first and second atmospheric air pressure; detecting a height change of a conveyance apparatus in response to at least the change in atmospheric air pressure; and confirming or disconfirming the height change using at least one of a rate of change in atmospheric air pressure prior to the first time, an acceleration of the conveyance apparatus, a rate of change in static atmospheric air pressure, a rate of change in temperature, and a rate of change in relative humidity detection.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, a method includes monitoring a plurality of vibration data by a vibration monitoring beacon and determining that the vibration monitoring beacon has been installed at a service location based on detecting an installation characteristic signature in the vibration data. The vibration monitoring beacon can transition into a learning mode based on determining that the vibration monitoring beacon has been installed at the service location. The method can also include monitoring for a learning mode termination event and transitioning the vibration monitoring beacon from the learning mode to a normal operation mode based on detecting the learning mode termination event.

    Abstract: An elevator system includes a car door and a sensor module. The car door is movable relative to an elevator car by a drive mechanism. The sensor module includes a first acoustic sensor arranged to provide a first acoustic signal, a second acoustic sensor arranged to provide a second acoustic signal, and a processor arranged to receive the first acoustic signal and the second acoustic signal. The processor is programmed to, responsive to an input provided to the first acoustic sensor and the second acoustic sensor, identify a direction of an elevator system noise source based on a first time delay based on the first acoustic signal and the second acoustic signal.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for determining elevator car locations are provided. Aspects includes a sensor affixed to a moving component of an elevator system, wherein the sensor is operated by a controller and wherein the controller is configured to determine that the elevator car is in motion based at least in part on the sensor. A direction of the elevator car is determined while the elevator car is in motion based at least in part on the sensor. Sensor data associated with the elevator car is collected while the elevator car is in motion, wherein the sensor data includes a travel time while the elevator car is in motion. Elevator car travel data is accessed from a travel time profile associated with the elevator car and the travel time is compared to the elevator car travel data to determine a location of the elevator car in a hoistway.

    Abstract: A method of assigning a destination floor to an elevator call associated with a mobile device is provided. The method including: receiving a first elevator call to travel from a first floor, the first floor is a boarding floor for the first elevator call; detecting a location of a mobile device relative to an elevator car of an elevator system; moving the elevator car from the first floor to a second floor in response to the first elevator call; determining when the mobile device exits the elevator car at the second floor in response to the location of the mobile device, the second floor is a destination floor for the first elevator call; receiving a second elevator call from the mobile device; and establishing the second floor as a destination floor for the second elevator call.

    Abstract: A monitoring system for an inclined passenger conveyor having a transportation band for conveying passengers between a lower landing region and an upper landing region; an endless drive member on which the transportation band is mounted, and at least one moving hand rail. The monitoring system includes at least one fault detection sensor, provided on a movable component of the inclined passenger conveyor; an associated pressure sensor provided adjacent to and associated with the or each fault detection sensor; and a controller. The or each associated pressure sensor is configured to measure the barometric pressure at a current position of its associated fault detection sensor.
